Is shopping online worth it?, have you been ripped off? bought goods only for them not to come or not as good as described. Have you had problems getting your monies refunded?. I recently purchased a metal ring collar in November online for my partner and it was total crap, l was promised a refund and still waiting... How about you.

Never had a problem with anythin gI have gotten off line Mind you th majority of stuff I have ordered online has been either from ebay, furbid or ellora's cave. The first two are auction sites and the last is an e book site. I have bought some stuff form Sub-shop and have yet to be disspointed yet with them.

Nope. Been OK so far - books, CD's, personal products (including toys), bugs for my garden, cell phone batteries, printer cartridges. I do check out return policies etc before ordering, and also google them for any sign of repetitive customer complaints.

i've been burned a couple of times, but i've probably bought a few hundred things on-line, between established shops with brick-and-mortar foundations (costco.com, bn.com), to online-only shops, to ebay. i did almost all my xmas shopping on line for the past 3-4 years, and i've probably bought 75% of my BDSM gear, and 95% of my computer gear, on-line.

I've bought a lot online and have only had one problem.  That was with an ebay seller who sold me a DVD in a European format that my player won't play and he wouldn't take it back, so i left a bad ratng for him.

I've only had two problems with online shopping, and I love it even so. I shop on ebay and craft store chains like hancock fabrics, and I buy from extreme restraints every now and then.

I've had good results, but I'm somewhere between careful and paranoid in my habits, too. I use a seperate card with a low balance on it for online transactions, and I scrutinize the reviews and ratings for any online merchants before spending anything substantial for their wares - and I do a lot of comparison shopping while reading the fine print.

bought online for over 10 years...never a problem...never use a credit card either... only paypal and before it was available i used money order.

never bought from personal web sites...the cheesy home made sites usually rip you off.  you can tell from how crappy the html is.  most of these sites dont even have an about me section nor do they offer a 1800 phone #.  the email is usually an aol/yahoo/hotmail.

almost all of my buys have come from ebay other than that bands and record labels.  you can buy direct with paypal from some bands on myspace.

Not much lately.
I'm just not buying anything these days. And, I don't "need" anything.

Yes.  Local stores wont special order- and we have a pitiful selection of stuff- escpecialy if you think outside the box.

i bought things i never dreamed of online.

as far as rip offs- i find it hard to deal with "con tracts" "call centers"  and modern marketing- heck even coupons expire fast- and you have to buy 3 items put your finger on nose and twirl.

I do most of my shopping online and love it.  I go to one or two sites that I love, for my clothing, and their quality is always good, and the return process is always easy.

For other items, Overstock.com is my friend.  I had an end table arrive quickly, but a leg was broken.  Overstock has a chat option, to talk to a representative.  I utilized it and 10 minutes later, the problem was resolve.  A few days later, I had new table legs arrive.

I use Expedia for reservations.  I had a problem with a hotel once and Expedia gave me credit for the room.  Very helpful.  I also used Priceline for hotels and it was not only convenient but I saved a lot of money.

Amazon is used for books and CDs.  I had a problem once with a Seller I purchased from on Amazon, and Amazon refunded my money.

Art.com has been awesome, for framed prints that arrive in good quality, and rapidly.

I have ordered toys online too, from various sites, with no issue.  Now I even order groceries online, because I like having them delivered right to my kitchen.

So to answer the OP, yes, for me it is worth it!!

All l know is that l purchased a metal collar online from a site called EternityCollars in November 2007 and what a heap of crap, it looked more like a ring from a leg iron, was supposed to be smooth, but was unfinished on the inside, so would have chaffed the neck. I contacted the site who said send it back for a full refund, which we did, paying shipping costs from the UK. finally getting a partial refund today 30 January 2008 minus the shipping costs and rate exchange...I make no apologies when l say, crap goods, crap service and if the CEO is reading this..do me a favour pal..take ya head out of your ass and sort your company out.

What does that have to do with online shopping?

Merchants have been known to refuse to issue refunds, or to screw people with re-stocking fees and so forth for a long time before the internet.

And seeing something in person before you buy it is no guarantee of satisfaction later on.

I've been far more unhappy with brick and mortar sales than internet ones so far.

I love this post.  I have to say- I thought about this statement when about to make a purchase.  You stopped some of my $ from evaporating.   Big smiles to all!
