AAkasha -> Review: Book of Revelation (1/28/2008 11:07:24 PM)

So...I finally had an opportunity to see "Book of Revelation" (http://youtube.com/watch?v=HhPydnoD4d4)  after many months of anticipation.  It's a story of a man who is kidnapped by three women and kept prisoner and subjected to a variety of sexual torments.  What's not to love?  It's got lots of restraints, lots of begging, great hair, forced masturbation and even a strap on....what more could a femdom want?

I can't quite put a finger on it, but this film did disappoint me, especially after "Punish Me" was such a hot surprise.  While I'm a bigger lover of angst, I got a little tired of the main character's angst, and was a bit frustrated with the plot.  Usually gratuitous bondage and S&M will make it all worthwhile for me, but I didn't find much beauty in his suffering.  Perhaps I'll watch it again to see if a second time around it holds more spark.  I'd be interested to hear what others who have seen this film think.

On a side note, the forced masturbation and strap on scenes were handled tastefully...but lacked an edge.

Hi AAkasha,

I haven't seen the film, but I watched the interview and found myself wondering if the anonymity of the women (provided that was maintained throughout the film) or the fact that there were three might have contributed to your ambivalence. I could imagine it being more detached and impersonal for those reasons.

I ordered the book and would love to see the film. I wonder why it hasn't been released in the US & Canada? I'm disappointed that the movie for sell on Amazon.com won't play in US or Canadian DVD players.[:@]
