Cali,
Just as an FYI, getting a new doctor is not just as easy as 1-2-3. In most countries, Doctors, espcially General Practitioners, are few and far between. This also means that they can only see their current client base, and are not accepting new patients. As for the neurologist, not every person who has epilepsy or a seizure disorder has one. Usually it's only the moderate to severe cases, or those requiring brain scans to check for brain tissue damage. Her neurologist/ Doctor may not be as involved with her care because she feels that the problem is not severe enough to warrent sufficient concern, and that the OP is self-regulating of her seizures and what triggers them.

To the OP,
Listen to your body. If you know that stress is one of your triggers, you might want to steer away from intense scenes or scenes that might cause undue stress on your body and mind. If you're aware enough of your condition to feel an attack comming on, definately tell your Dom/me to back off for a bit and let you rest until the feeling has passed. If your attacks are infrequent enough and don't require medication, it's basically up to you to make the decision as to when you jump back in. Take it slow the first few times though, just to get yourself re-aquainted.

sweetsub,

Good to know. :)
I think I echo everyone's advice here then. Listen to your body. You know it best.

HoneyMaster (who has two medical degrees) said that in the broadest sense, perhaps I do, but after being with me for two years He's never witnessed anything that would give Him pause.

You are kidding right?  You honestly want to go into BDSM having seziures?  You will be putting your self at risk as well as your Dom/me if something happens.
There is no guideline for this.

In a Scene, anything and everything can happen. Seziures, shock, stroke, heart attack, asthma attack, and even the notorious Flash Blacks.

I've never went blindly into a scene without first asking about medical conditions and any bad past experiences. For me, I keep up with First Aid and CPR. No matter where I do a scene, I keep my cell phone and first aid kit with me.

We have no garuntee of what is or what could happen so we have to live doing what we love.

The OP is not asking about willfully going through a seizure and having a scene at the same time. She's only asking how long should a scene be delayed after having an episode.

Personally, a seizure prone person does not turn me away from doing a scene with them. It only prepares me of a higher risk possiblity. In such a case, I would add padded mats on the floor along with my other safety precautions.

Actually yes there are guidelines for people that have seizures and are in bdsm...  They have been in place for as long as I know...  Just like there are guidelines for people who are bound to wheelchairs and are in the lifestyle...  Just because a person has epilepsy or has seizures doesn't mean they shouldn't be into bdsm...  I have epilepsy and have been in the lifestyle for over ten years...  I once had petite mal and grand mal seizures and everyone that I have ever scened with has known about it and known what to do should I go into a seizure...  It's simply a matter of open communication and honesty.
