Actually, use of fear scenting is nothing new. Several foreign militaries and police agencies have trained dogs to pick up on fear scent as a quick way to pick out potential suspects from a large crowd. I have never read any reports of how successful these techniques were. Another interesting scent story....The Stasi kept massive files on the East German people (kind of like the FBI files on steroids.) One of the things they often kept was a small swatch of clothing or something else with the individual's scent on it. They kept the samples sealed in an air tight jar that had been sterilized. They had dogs training to scent off the clothing samples and identify the people or track them. The methods were extremely effective and the quality of the scent sample (along with the dogs' ability to identify the individuals) actually improved as the samples aged.
