Every time I see something like this--or read an article about parthenogenesis--my reply is the same, "The long-term effects are still unknown." Technology can create alternatives, but we have yet to see the long-term results. Take cloning, for example. When Dolly was born, everybody hailed it as a great breakthrough, and it was. But then they learned that a clone starts off at the same age as the original donor! That's a significant setback, and until a youth formula is invented, cloning's back in the research barn.
