Did you ever meet someone on here and then just watch them disappear without a trace? You could have written simple things to them, complex things to them... doesn't matter. They could have made you smile... to think... to wonder... only to have the entire Screen name just disappear? As though the time you spent typing to this person was an absolute waste of time?
Friendship, relationship, journalists... doesn't matter... it does make one wonder why people do such things? Who are they hiding from? I think themselves? Or the rest of us?

Some people like that are only around to give you a mind fuck.

Others, well, lets just say they got caught. Maybe thier relationship was suppose to be mono, but they decided to play online. I've known Doms to do something like that, get caught, and change all thier Screen Names to keep a sub that they want.

Another explanation was they suddenly realized that they really could live their fantasy. That is terrifying to a lot of people when the truth finally sinks in.

It's the old "oh my god you really DO this sort of thing" [/no carrier]

I think it is just a really bad thing to do.. This was just a friendship.. we had even started putting our heads together to write an erotic novel... we wrote so good together.. it was fun to have a friend here... then this morning.... NO Active Profile... It really sux to not be told what ever happened to them.....
What is that phrase? The more people I get to know, the more I love my cat???

Just grumpy

I believe that is so true for so many. This was a person who has been out of the lifestyle for over 18 years, wanting to get back into. They also have a spouse that has no interest in the lifestyle and no ability to explain to the spouse what is going on inside of themselves.

It has to be such an awful feeling..... a scarey feeling.

I would say some people here are hiding from themselves. "Honesty, such a lonely word..."

Except if you know of an older occurrence, the real quote is from the french musician Erik Satie (1866-1925) : "The more I know people, the more I admire dogs".

There are also other explantions like going on a long vacation or finding another site that interested them more. Of course it could also be that they just found out this wasn't really who they were and they went looking for a site that was closer to who they THINK they are.

We are always chasing who we think we are. The very best I can offer is that we all find who we really are way before we are too old to enjoy it. I have been finding myself for ages and ages... still refining. Still changing.... learning finally after many many years.. to exhale. Peace out...
