sillyfrillyboy -> Anyone here in recovery? AA NA CA what have you. (2/4/2008 9:43:24 PM)

I was just on a post and read the words "this to shall pass" :) Just got me wondering. Obviously if you are and want to remain anonymous then simply dont respond to this post :) I have been in recovery and clean for over 12 years but recently felt good enough about myself to try getting involved in the bdsm community. As you can tell my own anonymity is not really something I spend allot of time worrying about. I work very hard to keep true to myself and have felt that the best way to do that is to be open and honest.

If you are not in recovery and are reading this blog then your are stalking us :) Seriously I just wanted to say that I have utterly no opinion on what other people do with there life in this realm. My recovery is about me and I work very hard at not offering unsolicited advice (although I do have a few pesky deffects still what you gonna do) so even if you are injecting heroin into your scrotom then thats your life... Although that might be a bad idea :)

I am supper new to this whole lifestyle but have always been active in the fellowships and would love to meet people in the scene that are also into the deal...

wow we really do speak in code :)

respects;
john

ps- please let me know if I can add you as a friend or not... thanks.

Hi. Been clean and sober 10 years (I go to NA and AA). It didn't seem like code to me, lol.

Hi, sorry, I still drink (Bacardi) but, I am known to say 'this too shall pass' and other wise biblical quotes. (and also wise quotes not from the bible like; 'don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining.)

Welcome.

HIya John :)  Feel free to  add me...
I have recently stopped drinking, gave up drugs about 2-3 yrs ago. Been through the program a few times (obviously it didnt take..LOL), and trying to find meetings close to me that mesh with my schedule (proving to be difficult).
In the meantime, my partner and I have an agreement...  each timeI drink (i.e. every glass/bottle I ingest) earns me one full day of being ignored... which for me is SERIOUS incentive not to drink...LOL

Anyway..nice to meet ya!

i'm certainly not trying to come off as a bitch here SFB, but what does it really matter? i mean just because someone 'claims' to be working a program of recovery doesn't make it so? Why would You automatically want to align Yourself with people who say they are in 12 step programs. Do You know them? Do You know what they stand for?

Hehe... your not being a bitch its a valid question. I guess its because I am so active in the community I was curious. Also I can usually quickly tell if they have learned anything from the rooms or not. Finally if I was going to ask if people have had any recovery related issues while being in the scene... say exposure to drugs or talking to a sponsor I imagine that people may not be as helpful.

I know there are whole groups for Christians in the scene and I imagine they have similar reasons for coming together in fellowship and supporting each other.

Finally lets see... I run to recovery oriented social networking sites that get around 800,000 views a month. I do a recovery oriented podcast that has been download over 12,000 times and I love recovery I bring it where ever I go because it is part of who I am. Some people say the are Christian or hindu or budist or republican.

A valid question from someone who has either gone, knows someone who goes or is still going. Work a program is not something every day people would know.

hisannabelle -> RE: Anyone here in recovery? AA NA CA what have you. (2/6/2008 1:29:06 AM)

greetings sillyfrillyboy,

i am dealing with recovery for eating disorders and drug...issues (although i have other physical and psychological issues, those are my "addictive" bits). i'm also very active in awareness for eating disorders, so i was really happy to read that you do public, awareness-oriented stuff as well. i am like you - i take it wherever i go. sometimes i feel all i talk about is eating disorders, chronic illness, and buddhism, LOL. i am not shy about it. i feel like if we can talk about it, we should, because it's so important and so few people who are recovering are able to. personally, 12-step has never helped me all that much, but i know many people who have benefited from it so i'm glad it is working for you :) my favorite line has to be, "let go and let god." the serenity prayer is good, too, though.

you're welcome to friend me and i'd love to message with you if you ever want to talk about anything. :)

respectfully and with much disregard to anonymity,
annabelle.
