sunshinemiss -> Advice for the Message Boards (2/8/2008 5:04:21 AM)

This is my friend dala... she is new to the message boards.  I remember when I was new and made some stupid comments.  So for her sake, and the sake of other new folks to the board (and for me to learn what I probably already SHOULD know)... What advice do you have for her so she will be a good Message Board Citizen with a hope to be a member of the Collar Me Women's Auxiliary.

Thank you very much...

why?

sunshinemiss -> RE: Advice for the Message Boards (2/8/2008 5:11:36 AM)

'Cause sometimes people don't know the norms of a particular board... It's nice to share information.  That's all.

Did you have anything else other than that link there at first?  I only saw the link, no text, and was perplexed..
My bad... :-)

Lol I know I know I type so slow trying to fix my numerous typo's lol.

sunshinemiss -> RE: Advice for the Message Boards (2/8/2008 5:17:23 AM)

Hey that's a good piece of advice.... be careful about hitting the buttons... sometimes the stuff pops up before you realize it... *love it when my foolish mistakes are useful... *smiles

BossyShoeBitch -> RE: Advice for the Message Boards (2/8/2008 5:19:41 AM)

In that case, the best piece of advice I can give to Dalia is to lurk on the boards for a while and read, read, read!!!

KatyLied -> RE: Advice for the Message Boards (2/8/2008 6:11:47 AM)

I agree, the best way to get a feel for any message board is to lurk and learn the personalities/styles, then you will be well prepared to start posting.

Phin -> RE: Advice for the Message Boards (2/8/2008 6:28:36 AM)

my advice: send me nude pics [:D]

seriously, if you see someone that is trying to bait you into an arguement, ignore that person no matter how hard they are pushing you, and do not post on that thread.

dala -> RE: Advice for the Message Boards (2/8/2008 7:20:59 AM)

*frantically tries to figure which of her posts were stupid*

Phin -> RE: Advice for the Message Boards (2/8/2008 7:22:50 AM)

I didnt say any of your posts were stupid, especially not the ones you were flirting with me [;)]

dala -> RE: Advice for the Message Boards (2/8/2008 7:32:59 AM)

wait, this is a post about me? this is my dream come true!

Rule -> RE: Advice for the Message Boards (2/8/2008 7:34:46 AM)

Never ask someone if he is dyslexic, or a sales clerk, nor compliment them for starting a thread in the proper forum.

Block the posts of anyone who has less than two hundred posts.

Aylee -> RE: Advice for the Message Boards (2/8/2008 9:16:43 AM)

Dala and Sunshine:

My advice. . . keep in mind that you get what you pay for. . .:

Try to keep in mind that this is not a life or death situation.  Even if someone is claiming suicide.  Which is against TOS.  But I digress.  This is not a situation where you should allow others to control your blood pressure.  (in a bad way, getting all het up over Phin is something different.)

You are not arguing a case in front of the Supreme Court.  This is closer to being a playground.  Do not push people off the swings, and try and share your toys.  If the same person(s) keep(s) trying to kick over your sand-castle, then either block or ignore.  It just is not worth it.

Everyone here is "real."  Some are just not as clever as they think that they are.

Try and have a sense of humor, or whatever it is that you use for one.

www.dictionary.com is a wonderful resource.

Try to be as congruent as possible with your posts and your self.

Try to remember to engage your thought process before hitting the send button.

Do not, under any circumstances, post while drunk.

If I think of others, I will come back and add them.

Good luck, take care, and be well.

Best,

Aylee

Look at all the advice telling her how to prepare for war....lol....how about don't take shit here personally 99 percent of the time it just isn't.

toservez -> RE: Advice for the Message Boards (2/8/2008 10:06:11 AM)

Four pieces of advice for any message board:

1) Read it for awhile before posting to get an idea if fitting in is a concern of yours.
2) Never or at least try to never get upset/emotional about anything that is written period.
3) Do not get upset or frustrated that you leave just because a lot of your posts may be ignored.
4) Be on to enjoy and possibly learn not for acceptance and attention.

You gotta know when to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away, know when to run
You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done.

Hi Dala.
