pettingdragons -> weight loss and tolerance levels (2/10/2008 5:24:03 PM)

Has anyone ever lost 50lbs or more and had it effect their tolerance level for pain?  Thank you for your responses Pamela

Many years ago i lost a lot of weight, and it did not seem to effect my tolerance one way or another.   i still enjoyed all the same activities, and added a few more to the list. [;)]

personally I am more pain tolerant the more in shape I am... I can imagine though that less padding against sensitive tissue or bone would make it hurt more, hit pressure points causing more pain.

I have lost about 75 lbs thus far.. and I am still my pain slut self.. mind you the hip bones are more prominent so more care needs to be taken and what not.

Most times the Dom/me just has to be more careful and mindful of the body...

I hope this helps.

Oh, Gwyn, congratulations!  That's fantastic!

i've lost 46 and have 24 to go.  You've just inspired me!

As far as being less tolerant to pain... umm.. just the opposite.  i crave it and enjoy the sensations more than ever.  It could also be that i am more comfortable being nekkid and the relaxation factor has something to do with it.  Processing pain as pleasure has become easier and more natural.  i'm sure it has to do with my self-perception and self confidence.

i have lost 90lbs so far...and i don't know if it is the natural progression of pain processing or due to the weight loss, but i really don't like thuddy now and i absolutely love stingy...but as i mentioned, i have heard that it is fairly common for people that have been playing with pain for a while...and after 6 years, a flogger is just annoying but i can take a single tail for hours, cutting and branding are fun - but kind of hard to find places to scarrify and i am a recently discovered needle play freak - but only if the needles are tortured after they are put in...lol...i think i am going to go for flesh hooks next...anywho...is this due to the weightloss or natural progression? i don't know...i am just aware of my body and what is good pain and what is bad pain...a few months ago someone posted on the different types of pain...that was a very good reference sheet for telling the difference...

thats all for now, gotta run

Awesome achievements there.  Being on that road to health and fitness myself, I started a Yahoo group for alternative lifestyle folks to chat about it: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/alt_fitness on which you're all welcome!  [:)]
