i am just curious about this. mainly because we just got a telemarketing call from MADD(Mothers Against Drunk Drivers) which is a first for me i must say.still wondering why they have to telemarket now but who knows just one of those odd things.

anyway.

i guess what it comes down to is this. i am 3 1/2 years into my drug addiction recovery.now like most things in life it is an aspect that has efected every area of my life now. i like to addtend meetings when i can and know there are some in my area. but what i am wondering is this. i would like to know if others have tried to find such groups where other D/s 24/7 folks attend or have interest in attending a meeting like that but to where they don't have to hide their "lifestyle". i'd like to be able to wear my collar since i am supposed to wear it at all times including when i go to such things but don't know if anyone in similar circumstances have run into a group where they can be open about all of that and not worry about others possibly finding out and over reacting.

i don't know if that makes any sense or not but i am just curious about it.

Yeah, it's called a munch, social and slosh among other things.
Specifically for those in recovery...you'd have to ask people there.

There are a lot of people in recovery, I've known them.  Doubtful
you are going to find an entire group of people in recovery as well as BDSM
in one area.

I don't know if they still have it, but SPICE in South Florida had a recovery meeting for those dealing with addictions and were in the lifestyle.

If you have local organizations you can suggest it.  If it is a large enough group, I am sure there are others who would be interested.

Congrats on kicking the drugs, if only other people (thinks of someone specific) who could learn to over come their short comings.

I think, like most other personal matters, some people are a little more private about it around meetings. Even if you were to have meetings for lifestyle people, it would still filter into the old rumour mill in the regular meetings. In my area, if the meeting becomes registered, it automatically gets added to the schedule and every time we have some sort of specialty meetings, some just come to be nosey and start whining about traditions or just to start rumours. I have a feeling that may be part of the problem. I have seen so many variations on this theme in the last 10 years, that I find it discouraging at times. I know for me, that if there was a meeting like that, I would not go because my ex-husband would in turn find out and start some legal thing about it making me unfit. I wish it wasn't that way, but here it is.

oddly enough that's part of the reaosn i only go when i know i really have to. i still remember the one when i found out i was using again,still confused about that one.i still wonder if the coffee is tainted

My twelve-step was CoDA. They would not ever at all ever ever understand D/s. It would be counterintuitive for the group and I'm sure impossible to understand, so I always kept it under wraps (including the jewelry). Hm. Seems like a niche that could stand to be filled - a kink aware twelve-step for codependents.

On the positive side of the same coin, I have MANY friends in recovery that I met at the regular meetings that are in the lifestyle, but it took a few years to get to know them enough for it to come out. The collar at an NA or AA young peoples meeting would not even raise an eyebrow around here, except maybe to question your fashion sense, lol. Those groups, with a few exceptions, are far more openminded about many things. You could look for those and give it a shot.

yeah that's what i fear in this area,we live in a very small community and my Mistress is very well known around here due to Her job. some of the folks She knows have already raised eyebrows when we have been introduced. heck we have to drive 30 minutes just to get a peaceful dinner out. lol.  but i do understand what you mean.
