subnstudent -> astroglide? (2/14/2008 10:58:29 PM)

So it says on the label, "if irritation or discomfort occur, stop use immediately and contact your doctor." What constitutes irritation or discomfort, and is it the same when used anally?

The tissue around the the anus is really sensitive and so might be irritated from normal contact.. and that might not actually be harmful or indicating of a problem. Anywho, when someone's had this problem before, how did you go about solving it? Is there a brand of lube that's better for anal, and I'm using a pyrex plug in case that helps.

Thanks,
~Nicholas

i've used astroglide before and it works well for me at least. i think most things like that have it just because that way people don't think it is normal for that feeling.
sorry if that's little help.

there's a lube called gun oil or something. It's ment specifically for anal sex.

If in doubt of irritation, stop using it. I don't think any one can tell you if your irritated skin is from the lube or not, but if I have a questionable reaction to something I don't use the product again.

I've never had a problem with astroglide... I think that the warning is there for legal reasons (like the warning on take out coffee: caution, coffee is hot).
However, if you're hesitant to use Astroglide, there's always KY, and BoyButter http://www.boybutter.com/
Elbow Grease  http://www.elbowgreaselubricants.com/  is good too.

my mailbox still needs some...stuffing

CrimsonMoan -> RE: astroglide? (2/15/2008 12:27:30 AM)

Gun oil works very well for the stuffing [;)] its so great what bored military men can come up with when there are no availible women.

Some people prefer a thicker lube for anal.
Astroglide is a great lube but like many waterbased lubes contains glycerine and parabens which cause issues with some people.

However, they have now made a glycerine and paraben free version
and you can order a sample of it from their webpage:

Y'know... the sensitivity to those two chemicals makes sense. I think I'll hold off on the sample, as I have a shared mailbox at a college dorm. I'll take a closer look next time I head over to spartacus tho.. I need to get some silicone lube for shining my rubber, anyway.

What's been your guys's experience with that kind and anal?

LadybugBlue -> RE: astroglide? (2/16/2008 1:47:42 AM)

best bet for shopping for lube for anal?  I went shopping with a gay bottom size queen boi.  He was VERY helpful..

it didn't hurt that I was in Seattle at the time and went shopping at Toys in Babeland, but...

angelikaJ -> RE: astroglide? (2/16/2008 2:23:22 AM)

Silicone should be fine...however with toys...you can't use silicone lube with silicone toys and it isn't recommended to use with jelly toys either.

LadybugBlue -> RE: astroglide? (2/16/2008 2:37:37 AM)

I actually prefer Millenium ID Glide.  Water based (works well with condoms, etc) and REAL slick....

Got the recommendation from said size-queen bottom boi

MistresssAria -> RE: astroglide? (2/19/2008 11:39:52 PM)

Just never use anything like "Anal Ease" or lubes with numbing agents in them - if you actually hurt yourself during play, your body won't be able to tell you it hurts & that you should stop!

Bluebird -> RE: astroglide? (2/19/2008 11:49:15 PM)

You can get the "sensitive skin" Astroglide from drugstore.com now also - so the same place I get my Oil of Olay, I get my lube!  Comes in a nice generic box delivered right to your door ...

I am REAL sensitive to silicone-based lubes, makes my eczema go crazy anyplace the stuff touches (including hands, thighs, etc.).  If you have sensitivities, I would stick with the paraben-free Astroglide, just use plenty for anal.

ID Millenium is silicone-based. ID Glide is the water-based one, which is what I presume you meant. There is no "Millenium ID Glide" - just wanted to clear that up to avoid confusion.

Personally, this is a subject I am curious about as well, since the only lubes I've been able to tolerate for anal are oil-based, which are not condom-friendly. Also, most water-based lubes that I've tried end up getting sticky (to varying degrees) as they dry. Liquid Silk is an exception, but it still has the parabens in it that irritate me when used anally. I'll have to try that new Astroglide sometime.

By the way, I also have a pyrex glass plug, and I've found that it doesn't need much lube at all because of the smoothness. I usually use a small dab of Liquid Silk or just some good old-fashioned spit. Your mileage may vary.

GreedyTop -> RE: astroglide? (2/20/2008 12:42:53 AM)

liquid glide is nice too :) I'd forgotten the name, thanks, violet!

RoughFN -> RE: astroglide? (2/20/2008 9:03:14 PM)

example of irritation -

Something in most standard lubes bothers me. I think it's the glycerin but can't say for sure.

Anyway, if I get it in my eye (and it happens! Especially when you think you've cleaned up and missed a spot), the entire area under my eyeball swells up for a few days. It looks like I have Down Syndrome. [:(]

Washing it out frequently and not rubbing the area helps the swelling go down faster. But it sucks when it happens.
