I don't know why, but I just love that joke..

Whats the difference to a submissive and a slave

In my opinion>
what matters is what YOU think they mean.
and what it is YOU desire from your relationship.

Definitions are too often personal perspectives.
and
Labels are sooo confining in WIIWD.

does it really matter "what" you decide to call the person, as long as he/she knows what they mean to YOU and to the relationship : )

lol...I just asked this question last week and got spanked for it...lol.

I'm new to this, too, and the conclusion I came to is that for the sake of speaking to others, a slave is completely subjected to his/her master's wishes, no limits, no protections (i.e., cleaning, sex, punishment, whatever the master/mistress says, goes.)   A sub obeys and submits, is dominated and controlled, primarily sexually (??) but there are limits, and they have more freedoms and rights.

However, in the privacy of  relationship, you are whomever you and your partner say you are.

Hope this helps.

except that i am a slave with limits, i have limits, not because i want them, but because i have to have them for my own health, mental as well as physical, and my owners, past and future, want a whole slave, so they require me to have limits and require me to inform them when those limits are being crossed....

PonyGroom -> RE: Submissives & slaves (2/15/2008 5:44:45 PM)

It is a question that leads to a misleading and uninformative answer, no matter how it is answered.

You could ask instead, "What motivates this one who thinks themselves submissive or slave to ask this question?"

or, perhaps,

"What motivates the one who labels themselves slave to do so?"

Without the flowery language, my response amounts to "Who wants to know, and why?" But it comes with a smile, and genuine curiousity.

To me, a submissive is a personality, I carry that with me where ever I go.  A slave is a role.  In a  relationship I can and will be a slave, IF that is what my Dom asked of me, but I don't NEED to be a slave.  I can never NOT be a submissive.  Make any sense?

Wow!  It sure does to me, and it helped me figure out something that's been driving me to distraction.

Thanks.  [:)]

A  sub likes to please you but may say No if they like.  A slave should never say no, and only seek to please his Mistress no matter what.
Incorrect.

I'm an owned and collared submissive, in a 24/7 TPE relationship. Your definition may fit you, but it does not fit everyone.

petpete -> RE: Submissives & slaves (2/24/2008 8:02:28 PM)

As how i view the argument has that it is in the eye of the beholder to see of how You are. Any submissive would love to feel as a slave as it is the ultimate state of domination that he can experience.. (the name slave sounds far better then sub-way, anyway) a submissive starts as a submissive first and works his way to become a slave with the right person that can take him and train him to Her or His needs. It is pointless to sit an argue about the fact that a slave has no limits cause there are always limits in all aspects of life, wether they are called physical or material.

Do you know that when you use words like "any submissive" or "all _____" it's almost guaranteed that you are wrong?

AquaticSub -> RE: Submissives & slaves (2/24/2008 8:43:48 PM)

~Fast Reply~

There isn't. Any attempts at defining the terms are quickly proven wrong. You only define what your slave, your submissive, your pet, your owner, your anything is.

petpete -> RE: Submissives & slaves (2/24/2008 11:16:44 PM)
