Just to point out, it's eighteen months (1.5 years).

Yeah, I'm kind of under the impression that the US has many text messages stored by the NSA in one of those hub thingies.  Text messages are just too juicy.. easily stored, relatively easy to ID, and still quite potentially dangerous.

I'd also guess text messages carry less noise and irrelevant data.  Seems like a perfect thing to tap to start getting at terrorism.

PS-  I mean when compared to things like the Internet and phones, not that the average text message should be tapped.

any terrorist worth his semtex would surely use a pay as you go SIM and a stolen handset, and change both regularly.......?

OMG, I'm "in possession of information likely to be of use to a terrorist" under the Terrorism Act 2000, and I just "distributed information likely to be of use to a terrorist" too.

ah well, fuck it. Death to the infidel....etc

Actually all you have to say is you didn't mean to look up terrorist porn and they let you off anyhow. I just love it when judges can’t agree what a thought crime is.

Yeah, it is kinda silly.  I mean any terrorist that knows decent program and has a couple of brain cells to rub together could make a godly impossible encryption program to communicate with.  Yet we tap wires anyhow.

I do hope they're smart about it.  The government, this is.

Yes. The Govt wants my sexy text messages.
Yum. Text sex.

And on my little prepay thing too. Because then only I, the recipient, and the govt. gets what I send. LMAO

The Government wants to know about all the millions of pounds I've lost by not answering text message competitions.
