Status: offline 		i have ibs it has do with my bowels. well i want try anal sex  so my question is can it be done? anyone else with this can know what i'm talking about. also i'm starting to feel like less than a sub when i say i can't. if you know any medinance that help with the pain with it that wouldbe nice know about too?

I would never attempt a session while having cramps though.
I will say that one evening a few weeks ago, we had a session with a larger plug than I'm used to, and we played for a while.
I did not have cramps or IBS problems for two weeks after. (this was very unusual.) I'm still wondering if the session did something to help.
I'm not sure yet though. I'll keep ya updated.

Status: offline 		thanks idid try a butt plug  yes i enjoy it in. but afterward so much pain. and it was small one.  but not sure if how long it was in he had in me about hour. yes it killed.

Status: offline 		I'm no expert on Irratable bowel syndrome.  Though I did a search.  It appears they claim the main culprit is stress.  So, if you could relieve some of it you may have less pain? 

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a mixture of abdominal symptoms for which there is no apparent cause.
Symptoms include constipation, diarrhoea, bloating and abdominal pain.
It is the most common condition seen by gastroenterologists and some estimates suggest that as many as one in five adults in the UK have IBS at any one time.  Your bowel, or gut, extends from your stomach to your anus. It is made up of the small intestine and the large intestine. Their job is to process food from the stomach.
The small intestine absorbs nutrients from food and passes undigested food into the large intestine. In the large intestine, or colon, this waste product is processed into feces.
The normal bowel moves food along the intestines through muscular contractions, known as propulsion. There are also areas of hold-up, known as segmentation.
This combination of propulsion and segmentation is called peristalsis. You are completely unaware of it when it is working normally.
The control of peristalsis is complex. The best way to regard IBS is as a loss of coordination of these muscular contractions.
In addition, there is evidence that people with irritable bowel syndrome have increased sensitivity within the gut to external stimuli such as stress.
This means IBS is often the outcome of a complex interaction between psychological and physical factors.
A disorder of the digestive system can affect the gut anywhere from the mouth to the anus, which accounts for the diversity of symptoms seen in IBS.

Status: offline 		I have IBS also, so I know what you're talking about.  Master has been training me in anal, and while I'm still fairly new at it, it's going ::ahem:: quite well.  lol 

I do wonder what kind of pain you are talking about here.  Is it cramping when you are wearing the butt plug?  Is it in the rectum as your body gets used to the plug?  Did you use plenty of lubricant with the plug and was it on the smaller side, since it was your first time?

I would suggest that if you feel cramps or have recently had an episode, I'd avoid anal that day.  I'm sure if you explain it to your dominant he will understand.  I don't think you need to rule it out as an activity - you just have to listen to your body and communicate your symptoms if need be.  I don't know what kind of pain you're having, so I don't know what kind of meds to suggest - but nothing should 'kill' you, certainly not a butt plug, due to ibs, unless you're having cramping with it.  If you have cramping, you could try the over-the-counter medicine Imodium.

There is something to be said for relieving stress and relieving symptoms.  If the OP is nervous about an encounter, and I would have to think she is when she has such physical issues yet wants to overcome them, it could easily bring on an episode.  The dominant must be aware of this and be willing to work with it to make the submissive comfortable enough to accept this sort of training if the session is bringing on an IBS attack.  Few things will kill the mood faster.

Status: offline 		I have ibs also.  The disadvantage is it's not a good idea to use enemas to prepare for anal sex.  For those of you that don't know, if you have ibs when you have cramping or stomach problems it is rather prolonged and much more difficult to recover from with IBS.  Therefore doing something such as enemas which cause that effect causes a much greater effect than one would desire.

You can however control your diet and achieve limited results that way.   It has never had an effect on anal sex for me other than that.  IBS should not be causing you to have more pain with anal sex as the sex doesn't effect your bowels but your anal cavity.  The only thing I could think of that would cause cramping and IBS is if you are way overlubing and it is having an enema effect.  You may need to limit the duration of anal activity because of that, but I really can't see how ibs would cause pain during anal sex when you aren't having an episode.

I think your problem is most likely something other than IBS.  Have you tried using different condoms, lubes, toys made of different material?  Anything that you have an irritation to can be quite enhanced anally as the tissue is very sensitive.

Status: offline 		the pain was cramping afterwards. and i think that dom who did that with me not longer in my life parted due both busy lives. did relax me before i use the butt plug and yes i use tons of lube. i threw the butt plug away because what happen but will try again wiht the right dom now as long he does not push for long time or when i start feeling cramping.

I  had  IBS for years mostly my teen years.
Perhaps the new plug gave you the comfort to relieve the stress.
With that it may have been more Psycological than physical.
In the third grade I remember wearing blue shirts made me feel more comfortable.
I wish I could say my life is less stressful and the IBS is gone.
But it's not. Finding little islands of comforts does help. I am free of it most of the time, through psycological/phisical controls.
Finding some control over lifes situations and even knowing there is a bathroom near
can releave tention that causes it.

Gotcha.  The cramping after could be coming from stress you feel from the training.  Even the thought of something going inside an area of you which you associate with pain could be a trigger.   I understand what Laurell3 said about the IBS not being affected by anal because the symptoms are in the bowels and the activity is in the cavity, however, I know sometimes if I get a stressful thought in my head, my belly goes all topsy-turvy and can trigger an episode.  It sucks, really. 

Just be sure with a new dom that you explain very clearly that you are willing to try it, but may have physical issues.  He should understand that.  If he doesn't ... well, that's your call, of course.

it is merely a name put to an assortment of symptoms.

Essentially, the physician who diagnoses IBS is stating:

"Gosh, no idea why you are experiencing these symptoms,
    but these are the symptoms you are experiencing".

The symptoms, much as those for 'the common cold',
could arise from any number of underlying conditions.

For those in this thread who suffer from 'IBS'...

If you have the means to,
you may be able to resolve your condition by consulting with a Naturopath.

A 'Naturopath'
is a fully medically-trained physician,
who has -also- studied 'alternative' therapies.

'Mainstream' medicine is concerned with treating SYMPTOMS,
not in uncovering the origin of a problem and working for a cure.

Thank you for these reminders, LTP.  It's a lifelong affliction that we deal with, and sometimes it helps to revisit what helps and remind myself that I need to deal with a few things differently to help the symptoms.

Is anal sex emotionally stressful for you?  Slow down then.  It really shouldn't be a huge production or something that causes alot of emotional distress.  If done correctly and patiently anal sex can be very enjoyable and not at all painful.  One way you may find out is by using plugs alone at home under your own schedule without the pressure of performing.   See how that goes.

Status: offline 		i have Crohn's disease which is somewhat similar to & sometimes referred to as IBS...i maintain fairly good control over it by alleviating my stress...sometimes it does get out of control, however, & i need to take a steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine to calm the lesions down...i have never really had difficulty with anal...recently, i've been having some fairly bad symptoms for a few months, i went to the dr, got the script & 2 days later, i was having some fairly vigorous anal after an enema...the only difficulty i had with that was some slight rectal bleeding that evening...guess i'm just one of the fortunate ones

Status: offline 		i do live on high fiber diet and i sometime i do cheat ok. but i can contorl it.  i will tell the next dom i'm willing to try but go slow and not over the phone you be there iwth me in person.

thank you very much for this clear info...i must agree with you...when dr's ask what i use to treat the Crohn's & i tell them that i use nothing except for every few years, i have to take the anti-inflammatory for a month or so to shut the lesions up again, they look at me like i'm crazy or lying or both......

Status: offline 		Okay, we all know it's about yer butt, but what has an anus to do with a bowel?  Bowels are internal...an anus hardly is.  And...anal sex goes not much further inside a body than does a long finger; so...whadup? 

I do not see them as related...other then making sure one is comfortable, clean and not cramping when the attempt is made.  Who would make such an attempt otherwise? 

I'm sorry, I just do not see these things as connected physically.  (yes, I see a difference if we are discussing Crohn's or actual rectal fissures or other problems.)  Seems to me phone sex has little to do with any thing physical and everything to do with fantasy.

Having experienced Diverticulosis, I can understand your concern...but I wonder if it is warranted.  How 'bout just go slow..and with a friend.
