Janon -> Corsets--where to buy? (9/15/2005 10:32:25 AM)

This might be a somewhat pedestrian topic for this forum, but I would really like some corset advice.

I'm a new lifestyle Domme, and have been in search of the perfect corset. I'm a bigger girl and I need a corset with some oomph, especially in the bust. I've found tons of really expensive models, but am kind of hoping the experienced Dommes/Mistresses/Goddesses out there have information I don't. The two I currently own are cheaper ones that zip up or hook up, rather than lace, and they don't contain me for more than an evening before bending out of shape (I assume it is wire in there, not bone).

Also--over bust, under bust, waist cinchers. Any advice on what type is best, most comfortable, most sexy??

Thanks to all!

Check out the "Bondage Gear and Apparel" section, there's at least 6 topics on corsets there, or you could do a search on corsets and see what comes up.

With an ample figure....your best bet is to save your pennies and buy a good one.

On my profile pic, I am in an under-bust duponi silk style from Delicious corsets (www.deliciouscorsets.com). I've had it for a number of years; expensive but a WONDERFUL piece. I'm a big girl, but small up top so I prefer an underbust style to wear over a blouse or dress.

Probably your best bet is to visit a local store that sells fetish wear or keep an eye out for a local fetish flea market that draws vendors. They always have plus sizes and you can try things on. It's hard to invest $400+ in a corset you haven't tried on.

My favorite corsettes come from here. If there is any problem behind them they will fix it. The owner called me personally from a fetish event where my friend pulled them aside at dinner. Great people, and great corsettes.

The only answer is custom. The best custom corsets (and resellability) are from the other woman out of St. Louis. I have owned several and was able to resell them at almost full value years later. You don't need to go there to get a custom fit. Dorothy and Mark are the proprietors and its worth every penny. You need to have a corset made with spiral stainless steel stays, nothing else will bend and stay in shape. I have been lifestyle for 35 years and I do truly know. Spend the money, even if only to buy one. They are hand washable and superior in every sense.

Check out "Amazon Drygoods". You will have to order on of their catalog ($4.00), as last time I checked they had no web site. They have reproductions of vintage corsets from about $150-400. Waists go Up to about 38". You will probably want to talk to their customer service if the bust is extra large and see what can be done. It's a great catalog showing all sorts of historal costumes you can buy at a pretty fair price. They also have corset kits you can buy to make your own. I've been meaning to do this for some time.
I also collect vintage and new corsets and have made some great buys on ebay. Usually between $40-$100. It's a bit risky as far as getting the right size but if you ask the right questions before you buy, the chances of having a problem are small. If the corset is too small, then it just gives me something to work towards.
