It's going to take me awile to figure out all the things wrong with AWMSLAVE"S post, off the top of my head i would say there has to be easier path's to ctizenship they laying under a bunch of rutting pigs for 16 to 18 hours  day.!!!!!

Logically, it's extremely easy.  Given observed human reactions to the extreme duress of captivity, an argument could be constructed that it is easier to keep a person in prolonged servitude than in temporary servitude.  After a time, the imprisoned person ceases looking for means of escape, focusing her mental energy on day-to-day survival.

There is but one thing wrong with his post:  It is glib, ill-conceived, irrational, balderdash.

One thing to consider when reading these stories about sex slaves is that these women often lie and exaggerate about their experiences. The reason for lying is that if they "qualify" as "sex slaves" they become eligible for US residency after being cought by officials. Logically, it is extremly difficult for a private party to imprison and sell for sex somebody against their will for prolonged period of time. Many of them may in reality work and share profits voluntarily.

They do?

The mind boggles at how one might exaggerate the sorts of things these poor young women go through

And its not at all difficult to imprison someone and sell them for sex. Certainly not here where people rarely know their neighbours, and take neither notice of strange comings and goings nor take action about them.

What you do, is meet some scumbag in a car park, choose the beaten, frightened and disorientated young girl you want, pay your money, give her a good hiding so she's frightened of you, push her in the back of a van, take her where she'll work, beat her again etc.

She has no idea where she is. She doesnt speak the language. She's locked in a room. She's scared out of her wits. She's feeling like shit from being abused 24/7. What's she gonna do, exactly? I'll tell you - whatever she's required to do, unless she wants another beating.

Thats how it works. Its not a fantasy. There's no safeword. There's just days and nights of unrelenting hell. No exaggeration.

Months of hell. Years of it. Let's not forget the confiscated passports, the threats made to the slave's family back home... and in the end, very probable death.

LE this was a big part of why I started this thread, the idea that this is not REAL. It is the womans fault. She asked for it. (much like rape, it is the fault of that miniskirt)They do have a choice. On and on, rationalizations for a really messed up horrible life that some get forced into. Forced into a brutal and too often short life. If it were all a ruse to get into the US then golly gee why would it also be happening in every other country as well? Alumbrado thanks for posting those sites, witness.org is one that I visit pretty often. Especially when I feel whiny and poor me. It forces me to see that my life and my world are pretty wonderful when all is said and done.

This is the classic type thinking I wrote about before. To think these women have even a remote understanding of the laws and rights of a foreign country that is drastically different. These women also face getting their family back home hurt or think that they will if they try to run. These bad guys are also quite different as well.

I got lot of beating of being "politically incorrect". If you calm down and think about it: we are not talking about children or mentally retarded people here  but adult often educated women. Idea that they are unable to stand up for themselves is totally ridiculous.

Have you read a single link posted? Do you, have your own links to back up your assertations that all the women are voluntary slaves?

You make an awful lot of assumptions and have yet to offer up an iota of factual support to justify those assumptions.

You're not politically incorrect, just wrong.

Ah, but in many cases we ARE talking about minors. I remember the Russian girl who was ADOPTED by an American man purely for the purpose of raising her as a sex slave and selling her services to his friends.

She is certainly not the only one.

awmslave -> RE: The 'Other' Slavery (2/19/2008 3:59:36 PM)

I am not saying "sex slavery" cases do not exist. I just say that in many cases reality and how it is portrayed differ dramatically. Imagine illegal brothel being raided by police. If you are one of the prostitutes it would benefit you greatly  if you lie being held against your will. There was a case in Africa where in some cases children are enslaved. Some Westerners made good business out of it setting up "charity" to buy them freedom. In reality the same group of children was recycled between being slave and gaining freedom. Slavers and liberators shared the profit.

Representative Cynthia McKinney Grills Rumsfeld On Dyncorp Sex Rings, Missing Pentagon Trillions & 9/11 Wargames

The response and McKinney's comeback was as follows.

Rumsfeld: "Thank you, Representative. First, the answer to your first question is, is, no, absolutely not, the policy of the United States Government is clear, unambiguous, and opposed to the activities that you described. The second question."

McKinney: "Well how do you explain the fact that DynCorp and its successor companies have received and continue to receive government contracts?"

Rumsfeld: "I would have to go and find the facts, but there are laws and rules and regulations with respect to government contracts, and there are times that corporations do things they should not do, in which case they tend to be suspended for some period; there are times then that the - under the laws and the rules and regulations for the - passed by the Congress and implemented by the Executive branch - that corporations can get off of - out of the penalty box if you will, and be permitted to engage in contracts with the government. They're generally not barred in perpetuity."

McKinney: "This contract - this company - was never in the penalty box."

Rumsfeld: "I'm advised by DR. Chu that it was not the corporation that was engaged in the activities you characterized but I'm told it was an employee of the corporation, and it was some years ago in the Balkans that that took place."

Watch the video here.

Three years has now elapsed since President Bush's promise to bring an end to this disgrace and the Pentagon is still yet to actually bar the practice. And the employees themselves that are burned for blowing the whistle, like Kathryn Bolkovac who was sacked for reporting on Dyncorp officials who were involved in the Bosnian sex trade. Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich is one of very few representatives in high office aside from Cynthia McKinney to demand answers on this issue.

Sex-slave whistle-blowers vindicated

DynCorp, a private military powerhouse, fired two employees who complained that colleagues were involved in Bosnian forced-prostitution rings. The employees went to court -- and won.

CuriousLord -> RE: The 'Other' Slavery (2/19/2008 6:04:38 PM)

I doubt awmslave's analysis is deserving of such hostility.  I'm sure that, in a huge number of cases, it's accurate; how could any sane person here claim that women don't often sell themselves for sex?  Has anyone seen the "Services" board here lately or the huge number of domme's who go out of their way to get people to buy them?

People with less money and more to want certainly would be more likely to take up prostitution.

I'm not saying there isn't a horrible number of forced, humilating, hopeless cases in which slaves are forced to do things that they can't stand with no sembelence of consent.  I doubt awmslave's saying that, either.  But it's ignorant to ignore the point that it's also quite likely that there are a huge number of cases in which there's a lot more consent than implied; that these pity stories gain citizenship and lienancy from law enforcement.

CuriousLord -> RE: The 'Other' Slavery (2/19/2008 6:08:35 PM)

It's of little surprise people are ignoring this.  People ignore their own morality and think they'll come back as some sort of angel or be reincarnated as other animal, too, though.

I suppose all I have to say is that, well.. people are stupid.  It's really not a surprise that many people are ignorant about most any one thing.

camille65 -> RE: The 'Other' Slavery (2/19/2008 6:12:21 PM)

I guess I don't see people, general people as stupid.

CuriousLord -> RE: The 'Other' Slavery (2/19/2008 6:16:08 PM)

We're all stupid, camille.  It's part of being human.

Despite all the years I've studied Physics, I can only make vulgar approximations of some physical systems.  And even then, it's only the common ones.  Most (decent) doctors in this world are working off a set of things that they learned to recognize with no real understanding of the effects of what they're doing.  People still can't even speak a language that they've used all their life decently.  We still don't know what's happening in our own bodies or minds.  There are so many mysteries in this world that would be so readily apparent to more intelligent creatures, but we're not them.

luckydog1 -> RE: The 'Other' Slavery (2/19/2008 6:34:13 PM)

AMWslave is correct, don't you all see movies.  Its just like "Pretty Woman" or "Hustle and Flow" for these educated adult women.  I've seen the movies, none of them are underage, or held against thier will.  Really they have a lot of fun and its a great life.  And they make lots of money.  What are you going to believe, hundreds of human rights groups ranging from the far left to far right wing Chirstians or some Hollywood movie?

After thousands of years of organized institutional slavery, to say it is illogical to think it works, is just damn stupid.....
