do you beleive that our dreams mean something?  my Dom told me the other morning about a dream He had...He said we were in bed together but there was a strange man in bed with us.  nothing sexual happening.  my Sir is very possessive and doesn't share, and doesn't have homosexual curiosities...just thought it was interesting and wondered if it means anything?

i used to have dreams where i've fallen down while crossing the road and can't get back on my feet despite oncoming traffic rushing toward me...i hate those dreams!!!!

MissMorrigan -> RE: dreams... (2/19/2008 1:31:34 PM)

I suppose they do, it's our subconscious working overtime. I hope mine have no real meaning, if they do, I'd be one messed up person and destined to spend the rest of my days in a padded cell given that I have the most bizarre/warped, effed up dreams imaginable. I lucid dream, so always remember them and can go back into a dream at any time, what I can't change (as yet) is the subject matter although I can sway how I want my dreams to go - usually.

I once read that dreams are the acting out of things our conscious mind simply cannot handle.

Most of the time I think of dreams as nothing more than our mind stroking off. However, I do believe that sometimes our subconscious mind is trying to tell our conscious mind things IT DOES NOT WANT TO HEAR. So our subconscious disguises it all in symbols. It’s up to us to interpret it. Some symbols are universal, some are cultural and some are personal so, while others can help, it is ultimately up to us to figure our own dreams out.

As for your Dom’s dream, was the strange man between you an him? That might indicate an unspoken problem in your relationship – something you are both aware of but are pretending doesn’t exist. Just speculating, though. I could be wrong.

As for your dream about falling down in the road, it sounds like a straightforward anxiety dream to me. In my anxiety dream there is a giant tidal wave coming at me. Everyone runs for high ground but I am always stuck (my foot caught between two rocks or something like that).

When I was an adolesent I had dreams of trying to yell for help and I could not.
My voice was changing at the time and I got horse very often. but the dreams were very vivid and I remember images of them to this day.

I do believe they mean something but it is up to interpritation.

I love lucid dreaming! I’m not always aware that I’m dreaming but when I do realize it – hoo boy! It’s time to be carried across the universe in a magical boat with a hundred beautiful naked women in golden chains, manning the oars.

Alumbrado -> RE: dreams... (2/19/2008 3:10:14 PM)

They mean I'm going to spend a bit of time in the morning trying to figure them out...[:D]
When I do dream, it seems to involve people and places I know in some sort of good vs bad 'script', and I always wake up just before dealing with the ominous threat in the dream.

MissMorrigan -> RE: dreams... (2/19/2008 3:14:37 PM)

I tend to dream about parallel worlds, and never anything with a sexual basis to it, so wonder if that's just me, or whether it's more common among men to have sexually-related dreams than women. It'd be interesting to find out the ratio.

It sounds as if you love dreaming as much as I do! Wouldn't it be great if there was a way we could 'record' our dreams, a visual kaleidoscope captured for us?

girlygurl -> RE: dreams... (2/19/2008 6:43:02 PM)

I find dreams very interesting. For the most part my dreams are very detailed and typically include people in my life from the present or past. Lately I've been dreaming about past bf's. Who knows what it means... but some of the dreams are rather enjoyable. [8D]

Then there are the dreams where I'm left with a terrible feeling all day! It's weird, I'll actually have terribly sad feeling throughout the day....

I try to figure the dreams out, I've even purchased a book on dreams, but the mind is such a mysterious thing... I don't think I'll ever figure out mine. lol

Here's my two cents worth OP~ because he is possessive maybe he's worried about having to share you .... or be in competition with other men???? just a thought.

Dreams likely mean something, but no one's smart enough to decode it for you.  The complexity of the human mind is still beyond our reach.

If someone claims to have figured out what your dream means, ignore them.  They're just guessing at something that seems to make sense without regard for if it's actually true or not.

faerytattoodgirl -> RE: dreams... (2/19/2008 6:56:43 PM)

i had a dream...but then i realized i was drunk.

MichiganHeadmast -> RE: dreams... (2/19/2008 7:08:36 PM)

Don't know if they mean anything, but I have some wild-ass dreams.  I wish I wasn't so groggy in the morning.  I'd love to have enough mental lucidity to record some of the best ones for a sci-fi novel.

MadameMarque -> RE: dreams... (2/20/2008 4:03:39 AM)

I definitely believe dreams are significant.

There is a technique of dream interpretation that could be helpful.

Interview the dreamer.  You can even do this for yourself, although the helpful part of talking to someone else about it, is that you may be more thorough in explaining the dream, which in turn makes you more aware of its content.

Pay attention to who and what was in the dream, the environment where it takes place, when, in time, it happens, what occurs, the feeling of the dream.  Make note of things that don't make sense or that seem highlighted.

The main question is, regarding any element of the dream, what does that mean to you?  For example, if the dream occurred in a place from your past, or a celebrity appears in the dream - what does that person or place or time in your past, mean to you?

Maybe you don't immediately know what they mean to you.  So the questions is, "pretend that you're describing that person, place, or thing, to someone who knows nothing about them, and describe them to me."

You may be amazed how describing the dream in detail, you become aware of its implications, yourself.

Another possibility of a dream's meaning, is psychic information.  A dream may be giving you information that you're not aware of, or tell you something that may happen, in the future, or even something about a past life.

I'm not sure the best way to distinguish when a dream is psychic.  When a person or place is clear in the dream, but you have never seen them before, this may be one clue.  Does anyone else know the best way to determine that?

KyttynTheMynx -> RE: dreams... (2/20/2008 5:48:53 AM)

I suggest getting to a bookstore or a website that has dream decoders or dream dictionarys and starting there.  Like stated above some dreams contain psychic info, but other times, certain things (like pregnancy) are about TOTALLY different things.  Cant hurt to give it a go!

pahunkboy -> RE: dreams... (2/20/2008 6:25:02 AM)

At times yes. at times not- it simpy means you have to pee.

when i was 4 years old- i was holding my dads hand in a store- he went into another isle. i drifted...and could not find him. i cried and cried and cried.
I have recurring dreams. I am trying to get home. I try desparately. But cant. Im walking. I think maybe I can get to a freinds house, or my brothers. indeed i did alot of walking growing up.

i believe our culture is too quickto blame parentson our outcome- oh so terrible a childhood. when i had a great childhood. i didnt know it untill later in life tho.

a horny male will plug a mud hole- anything that moves- any tight hole will do given enough denied heterosexual sex. it means nothing. you might consider any thought masterbation....

only when the urge is so recurring over so long - can a male be thought to be bi or gay.

i never tell a guy he is. cause if his world crashes  then it is on me. so i say no you arent.  then if he inststs, then per haps he is sure this is who he is.  if so- then it is right for him.

Oh- if you want to know whats on his mind whatch what he looks at in public. we tend to look at what we find pleasing...

a guy might even try gay sex. but often doent like it at all. in fact is repulsed by it.

many guys are afraid their cock is too small. so any interest is too measure themself and nothing else.

Ild let it go if I were you. It is nothing.  [based on your OP]

servantheart -> RE: dreams... (2/20/2008 4:28:13 PM)

From time to time, I have very violent, graphic, bloody dreams.  They always seem to come in cycles and I don't know what, if anything, it means in relation to my conscious existence, nor do I know what triggers them.  I hate having them because they leave me very unsettled for days each time I have one.  Another one that really puts me on edge is a recurring one I have on occasion.  It always involves a stranger stabbing me to death in my house.  That one scares the hell out of me.

Another topic of frustration for me in my dreams involves nursing.  I have nightmares about not being able to complete all my tasks on time, particularly medication administration, and that one of my patients will have some kind of adverse outcome because of me.  I can understand where this originates from, since obviously my goal in nursing others is to help and not harm in any way.  These dreams scare and frustrate me greatly.

I've also had dreams about my Dad, who passed away in 2004, though not as often as I'd like.

CalifChick -> RE: dreams... (2/20/2008 4:34:06 PM)

I have a recurring dream/nightmare and I know exactly where it comes from, but I guess I don't know enough about why I have it to get rid of it.

And apparently I say some pretty interesting things in my sleep, things I'd rather keep to myself, but noooooo, my big fat sleeping mouth just goes off on its own and spills all my heart's secrets.  Pffffffffftttttttttttttttt.

Hi hun.  1st off the only thing you do in the bedroom is sleep.  get rid of plug in things especially a tv.  dont eat after 4pm. avoid the tv mews and violent movies.

typically we fear loss of control...

When I was a kid I had 2 dreams that haunted me terribly...One where a tornado was coming....I could "hear" it approching, but couldn't get to everyones room to save them....I just couldn't make it down the hallway for some reason.....

and the other from when I was VERY young was that Frankenstien was chasing me. and sometimes he would even come through the doorway of where I was hiding. but I would wake up at that.
