Certainly one of the challenges I face in my quest is finding someone who lives in the country, or someone who wishes to live in the country.

For some reason there seems to be very few of either, compared to those who are living, or wish to live in the city.

I should like to better understand why so few urban submissives/slaves are willing to make that transition.

I enjoy the variety city life offers - in food, entertainment, nightlife. I actually live in the suburbs but can travel to the city in an hour, which for me, is the best compromise. Life in the country would make me a little squirrely after awhile.

ive lived in the country for years, decades!
i run away to the city (or another country lol), get my fill,
but i always seem to wind up back in the country. go figure.

nature and i don't get along very well that's why i don't camp/fish/etc. touching squirming crawly things - icky!

plus this urban submissive parties like a rock star 2 to 3 nights a week so living in the country would be hard for me to review/interview bands.

All of my life I lived in a town setting ... Tourist trap everything was five minutes from anywhere ( not exacty true the island from end to end was 30 minute drive but you get the picture I was mid town and could get to almost anything in under 15 minutes Wal-Mart less than 5) Almost two years ago now I woke up and realized OMG I hate this place My kids were always in trouble in school, my son was always in alternative ... so I said to hell with it and decided to leave there.. Well I ended up picking a place that is for the most part rural but has *town*i ended up in the rural area ... At first I hated OH how I hated it. One car .... I was STUCK out here in hell but I had choosen it who could I yell at ...... they I began to realize ... I could se the stars at night .... cant really in the city to many lights, I could look out the back door and see a rainbow from end to end ... Double rainbow once it was beautiful. I could grow things started with a nice 6x6 raised bed... Then came the being able to be out doors ... nude. I am not a sun worshiper but there is nothing like being out for a bit with out a stitch on and feeling the sun warm your body.... it can do wonders for minor depression to if used in small doses. Wont be long till there isnt any counry unless you own a 100 acres. Worst part of getting used to it was learning you cant friggen forget things when shopping . Everyone should experience it once

Thanks Carina.

And you're right: country living does require a bit more planning when shopping.

In the city I lived in a home with two trees.

Here I look out and I can't see the road for the trees, there are so many.

The only problem is getting about in winter. Sometimes I get snowed in, and have to sit by the fire drinking hot chocolate.

Kind of hard to imagine returning to the land of slush and concrete.

Ive always lived in the country and i love it, i lived in a small city for a while but i could never cope with a big city. I am moving to an area that is close to cities but on the outskirts I guess cos Im not that great with the speed of cities and the rush everyone seems to be in. I always see the country or small towns as a place to live and a city as a place to visit. Even moving up to where im moving is nerve wracking because it is more populated than I am used to but luckily the house over looks some rolling hills and trees so i wont feel too detached from nature.

Why exactly do you want urban and not city? Some things resonate and some do not. Especially if it is how you were raised and come to expect your way of life to be, most people prefer to stay in that comfort zone.

Raised in the big city and live in the country. Im an outdoors person so city life is out for me.

i'm a MAJOR country girl...grew up in a very rural area in virginia and loved it, it was awesome being able to walk out your front door and walk for miles before even hitting a major road, or being able to pick your veggies for dinner right from your own backyard. but my Master grew up in the suburbs of maryland, so that is where we live now....and no matter how long i'm here, i still kinda hate it! all the over-development, traffic and highways, no green space anywhere, no respect for animals or nature, and the people are just so cold and unfriendly compared to country folk, who are always willing to have a 10-30 minute conversation with a total stranger. i'm holding out hope that one day my Master will develop a yen for the country life, and whisk away to some big farm for the rest of our days (hey it could happen!)

Because cities are lively, busy and exciting. I've also found that most city lovers are city-born, or have spent extensive periods living in urban areas. It's difficult to reconcile city experience to the sedateness of country life, where the quiet can sound eery. To me, anyway.

Imagine this: you want a newspaper. Or a cup of coffee. Or simply, you want to go for a walk. In the city, you have an array of choices; you can go to a city park (London is full of them) and find some inspiration there. Or you can choose to meander down streets bustling full of people. You can select an exhibition at an art gallery, or go to a museum. You can wander. If one has a love for humanity, the city's where it's at it :-) .

I've made the transition from city to small town - and it's tough, to say the least.

My first mistress lived in north Jersey, just outside of New York City and I lived in the country in Louisiana. I'm kind of like a hybrid. I'm a country boy at heart, but can adapt to living in a big city. I moved up to be with her and we both worked in Manhatten. It was kind of strange working in a city that had nearly twice the population as my whole damn state...lol. After our relationship finally faded, I moved back to Louisiana because even though it can be a bit of a shithole, it's still home to me. I was OK living up there, but I think I'd much rather live in a slower paced environment. There's more time to enjoy things, but the selection of entertainment outside of the country (including fetish and BDSM interests) is most likely limited. One is a trade-off to the other.

You want a newspaper? They are delivered (Or look on the internet) You want a cup of coffee? Make one. You want to go for a walk? You have miles and miles, go any direction you want. (city parks are the ugly bastard children of real nature) If you like beauty and art look around, beautiful sky, flowers, animals. If you love humanity the city is not where it's at, I live in one, nobody talks to you, nobody even looks you in the eye in case you might want to interact with them. I also lived in the country, people you dont know say hello and smile as they pass by. Small town grocers start up conversation. If one likes anonomity and distraction the city is where it's at.

I've lived most of my life in the country and I -love- it. My Owner lives in Nashville, so I have to be in the city even more often than I do when I'm at college. She's visited my family, so she's seen where I live and she does enjoy it a bit...it's just in the future it won't be very possible for us to live in an area like that with both of our jobs and whatnot... That kind of sucks, but I'd be happy with my Owner if we lived underground, lol.

The country is vastly superior to the city, in my view. It's peaceful and quiet most of the time. You can walk outside and not have to worry about people. Outdoor bondage is exceedingly more doable. There is very little traffic on the roads. There's relative privacy. There's the beauty of nature.

What advantage does city life have? Stores...but that's really it...in my view.

Am I the only one singing the Green Acres theme song?

I've lived in the city, the suburbs and the country. I am happy anywhere. I belive home is where the heart is. Of the three I dislike living in the suburbs, at least in NE Ohio. I would prefer to either live in the city or the country...and not in between.

I lived in the city for years .. then moved back to the country .. and loved it ... or back to the country I should say as I grew up in a very rural area .....It is very hard to find submissives who enjoy it ... and it is a shame expecially since I seek my final submissive ... .to share a LTR ......

I would be happy to relocate to a rural area that is closer to a big city ... but still need to step out and see the stars and watch the deer come into the yard to eat the corn I put out for them etc . and then there is the private outdoor play that is available <EG>
