Yes, it is! I enjoy working with other female deminants as a photographer, and I enjoy the company of other dominant women whenever I can.

I have'nt had this issue to often, but some want what they can't have. Egos get bruised and a tantrum is the result. Also, Dommes rule the supply of subs is endless. I know its harder for the men, some just handle that better than others.

I dunno..."Contessa Tigressa" has a certain ring to it.

Especially if you rrrrroll that "r".

Actually, I hadn't really considered these titles from the old class nobility before....but weirdly, I can see why they might have a certain appeal.

I don't generally go for general domme titles, but people are always asking me what you're supposed to call a Femme Domme if you want to aproach her politely, and I never have a solid answer. I have to admit, though, that if everyone were part of some kind of universal protocol, "Contessa" would pretty much kick ass all over "Mistress" and "Ma'am" as a general term for dominant women, for a number of reasons.

"Contessa" or "Baroness" or whatever is a title that asserts your dominant nature as a right of birth, for one thing--and I do believe that most people who are dominant are probably born with the inclination, regardless of when they start to express it. "Contessa" also asserts your dominant nature without insinuating a sexual or personal D/S relationship with anyone in particular--people can call you "contessa" without behaving as if you've already collared them.

"Contessa" also asserts dominance without insinuating that anyone you meet is automatically your inferior (after all, there can be many nobles in any country!) and it asserts dominance without making reference to your age. You can be a Contessa at 18 or 80--it's not something that comes and goes relative to another person's status. Whereas "Ma'am" always implies an older woman to me, due to rural upbringing--I find it awkward to be called "ma'am", especially by men my own age.

And of course, it gives you that nice division there between your D/S world and your vanilla life! If someone calls you "Contessa", you're in Kinkland.

Still gonna stick with my own way for now, I think. But if the Female Supremacists take over the world, I am TOTALLY going to stake out a Barony somewhere in the north and have my castle guarded by shirtless men with tribal tattoos and silver nipple rings.

And...um...polar bears.

Screw it, I'm a Baroness, I can do what I want.

I have to admit that anyone, male or female, who uses a title beyond the polite forms on ones they earned through a standard process (such as a master carpenter or a Dr.) or one that comes with a recognized position or authority (such as a judge or president) is immediately put into "you make me laugh" category.

I'm all for good role-playing but unless I'm role-playing with someone, they don't have a right to that title with me.

Be one of my professors or my doctor or something like that I might call you by that title.

Princess? Yeah, Princess is kinda the suck, isn't it--? So is "Prince", if you think about it. "Princes" and "Princesses" are actually nobody, really, until they come of age or Mommy and Daddy kick the bucket. I suppose you could use it for wanna-be baby dominants, before they turn 18.

*cracks her knuckles* Now, a Duchess--? Has a pretty good spread of terrirtory under her command. A Baroness has a barony, a Countess has a county, a Lady has at least a castle...

I like a Queen the best, but as tammyjo pointed out, titles don't mean much in the end. Especially when they aren't real. I mean, if one were a true countess then it'd be mildly impressive... but we all know that's quite rare, really...

'Princess' = gag. It reminds me of these horrid little girls running around in fairy costumes, whining that they want more lipstick. It makes me think of fat brides-to-be trying on wedding dresses harping on about their desire to 'look like a PWINFEFF'.

Aaaaah... glad I got that off my chest ;-) .

PS: 'Prince' is camp in an uncool way. I mean, Prince Charles?
