I love the Australian accent, some I could barely understand. There is a hilarious sit-com there, called, "Kath and Kim" I might have the spelling wrong, it is a funny, funny show but a lot of the time I couldnt understand. "Luk at muhyee, luk at muhyee." lol.

That show is so deliciously ironic. A lot of the people who watch it and laugh don't even realize they're almost the same in so many ways. I find a lot of women love the Australian accent even if mine isn't personally almost as broad as Irwin's
.

Do american accents do the same thing for Britsh women as British accents do for American women?

I'm not sure if it's the accent, but there's something about the way Americans communicate (at least the Americans travelling up and down the North Western part of England) that sounds so optimistic. I quite like the accent around New York (probably a result of watching Cagney & Lacey and Heart to Heart when about 7), but that moider thing they have is impressive :-) I suppose I like something that stands out.

The thing with England is, you can walk 5 miles down the road and people speak with a different accent and sometimes a different vocabulary - we're very much proud of our particular towns and cities and that's what we identify with rather than the nation, which means distinct accents are maintained for every town/city and sometimes neigbouring villages maintain distinct accents. I have French friends who just can't believe the wealth and breadth of accents across England; it means we have scores of accents to love or hate within our own country and there's no need to focus on foreign accents.

I have often debated whether I should take on an English accent along with a walking stick...I have toyed with this idea in the past...I just think I would exude Domliness as I would firmly plant down my walking stick to accentuate a point or to put dramatic emphasis on a particular word or a syllable.

I believe the end of my walking stick might smell like poo....Due to the sodomy. There would be splinters...Poor thing.

you would sound even hotter with an english accent domibabe

In my "secondlife" I am a gorean guard at a slavers camp.

In sl, there is a button at the botom right you can press, and people in the sim nearby your character can hear your voice, even if they are across the pond.

The kajira (slave girl) I was typing too,  just luuuurrrvvvved my English accent. Her southern USA drawl was strangely interesting to me too.

I too find myself attracted by accents. I've know lovely ladies with Chinese, Japanese, Indian, French, English, Irish and I can't forget the Scandinavian accents. But one of the most gorgeous was a lady from India. She dressed in sarees and had a perfect upper class English accent. I loved the dichotomy.

I've always found that New England/Boston accent to be sexy.
I was born in NY and raised in NJ so I have no accent whatsoever.

The scandinavian people I know mostly talk English damn well...untill they tell me...I think they are English.
Guess it depends on the area they come from. But they get English very early in school.

I tend to like a harsh German accent myself. 9! etc.

If her name is Olga then that is just a bonus.

First - I was raised in Michigan, the home of the pure, unaccented American language. National news anchors used to be taught "Michigan English."

oh, YAAAH, dere's no michigan accent, hey. i'm from wisconsin, so i've heard it. it's just that the younger people don't really have it. unless, like me, you tend to pick up little bits of it from working with mostly really old ladies.

that being said... i kind of like accents, especially the german or slavic accent on women, particularly women with a more high pitched voice (not shrill, but soprano.) everytime i meet a girl from one of those countries i just kind of end up staring. but what really gets me in men isn't the accent, it's the "radio voice" someone mentioned earlier. like... art bell, the radio anchor, is not at all attractive, but the first time i heard his voice i had to go and sit down and giggle a little bit.

My screen name is MissAidan because Aidan is my middle name, and it's my middle name because I'm half Irish.  There is a very good chance that my love of all things Irish has something to do with genetics.

I would have to say yes, there are some of us who are deeply effected by accents. I know I am for one. I coined a term a few years ago which has stuck. I simply call myself an 'accent whore' just because of how physically an accent will effect me regardless of what the conversation is about.

I have had more than one situation where I was working customer service and someone with this accent or that started speaking across the room to someone else and I blanked midsentence. I will get flushed and I will completely lose track of things and become completely daft.

It has been stated more than once (and I believe it too) if I ever make it across the duckpond to Europe I will have to wear a sign around my neck with my name on it and the address of the hotel because actual intelligent speech will be null and void, especially if such accent comes with delicious tones...

~shakes her head~ Its a weakness, a definite weakness.
