Now I’m not much for conspiracy theories, but I was laying in bed last night pondering the passion of DG about Obama and it started me thinking about some other things I had been reading lately.

I’ve noticed lately where the impassioned youth and minorities have taken strongly to Obama; and while I’m impressed with the mobilization of new voters I have been wondering some off the wall things. I think Rule is rubbing off on me. I read where Republicans are voting in Dem primaries since the Republican thing is all but settled. I started wondering why, and there is the obvious reasons that may or may not be true, but what if there is a game a foot.

Obama is very charismatic, many blacks see him like a last great hope all the sudden, like some whites would have viewed that white boxer in the days of Ali; that Jerry Clooney something or other fellow. But the passion is really becoming very high pitched and has almost taken a face all its own. It went from looking for a man with the right views and policies to getting one of our kind elected. This is just about Black America either, he has many minority groups and not so minority groups rising up. I still say, nothing wrong with that, if a man has a right to vote, exercise it, and let’s just hope it’s for the right reason.

Ponder this thought for a moment and you will actually see my intent here. Let’s say Obama wins, the voice of the downtrodden is heard and all is well. Now go to the biggest fear we all share if he would win. The Assassination that some feel is inevitable.  It could be some crazy white supremist and it could be something more devious and underhanded.

Ponder this for a moment; the city of Los Angeles was brought to its knees over the Rodney King deal, Detroit was set ablaze because the Pistons won a Championship. What happens if freedoms new Champion is killed. Seems like an awesome opportunity to enact marshal law wouldn’t you say? We had to do it before, anyone remember the 60’s? What if it was on a much larger scale this time? The troops can be told to kill there own to save others of their own and that might be enough to muster their support. I mean what if the conspiracy theorists have some validity?

Just a scary thought I had once upon a nightmare. Maybe I should have posted this in Random Stupidity….

Ponder what you will,

Bull

To those outside the USA, I know this isn't all that important to you, but imagine a United States in that kind of termoil. The Global markets haven't seen chaos the likes of which that would spawn. Not to mention the political ramifications.

obama  will have the brain to surround himself  w ppl  on  his team.  not yes men. not based on any race.

im  sick and tired of being sick and tired.

think of it as seduction, as aposed to rape. it feels better.  ;-0

I prefer not to ponder such a thing.

I do hear this fear from other folks, though.

Why are people so ready to see him killed?

It`s almost as if some people take it as granted, that someone will shoot him.

Aside from the normal(for lack of a better word)amount of attempts, why do people feel this way?

Honestly, there have to be more nuts out there that hate Bush than there are die-hard racists these days!

Assassination of a leader will always be painful.  A pretty big risk at times, too, regardless of race.

Perhaps it's the idealism in me, but I'm trying to ignore his race and its effects.  I sorta wish everyone else could do the same.  I hate the fact that some white and black people either like or dislike him for his race; I wish he was more of a human canidate and less of a token black guy.  With this ideal in mind, it's impossible to care for the concern of a white supremacist assassinating him.

As a young voter who does like him, it's often because he doesn't reek of the same disgusting stench coming off other politicians.  Actually, McCain's surprisingly relatively clean, too!  Obama's probably going to win out over him due to charisma and the fact the GOP's seen as politically liable right now.  But, that does remain to be seen.

PS-  In an ideal world, there would be a whole list of canidates a voter could like, and then we'd vote based on the issues.  But after seeing many campaigns, there are many I don't even want near me.  Hillary, with her dirty tactics, is someone I don't even want near me.  I wouldn't want her as a friend, coworker, or associate- much less President!  But Obama's the kind of guy you feel like you can associate with and not feel dirty about it.  McCain sorta feels that way, too; he's more dry and obviously kinda old, but there's nothing really against him.  I may end up voting towards him if he's better on the issues.

i'm not really sure why people think that, but i never really did.

although bull's point is a good one, that if obama were killed it's possible things could really hit the fan and that may be just what "they" want to happen. (i am reminded of the king kill 33 theory.) but... i don't really think that the only reason people like obama is that he's black. obama has charisma, and the way that bush did things made a lot of my generation interested in politics again, simply because we didn't want to be that screwed again. but hillary just isn't an exciting candidate to get behind.

my nana, she says she hasn't been this excited since kennedy was running, and obama always kind of reminded me of kennedy somehow, too.   maybe that's why people think he'll get shot. that and the fact that we still have a lot of racism in this country. i don't think it's as easy for a president to get shot these days though. we live in the age of the popemobile.

I'm afraid that perhaps some might have misunderstood my direction here. I certainly don't wish harm on B.O. My point was "what if" something happened to him if he were to become President and what if that was actually the plan of some sinister unseen party?

But nevermind, like I said, this thread was most likely better suited for the Random Stupidity section.

I didn't take what you said in your initial post the wrong way. I fully understand what you meant and I agree with the conclusion you came up with in your "what if" scenario. It is a very scary thought, but even more so if you look at some other possibilities that could happen as well.

How about having UN troops brought into this country to enforce martial law?

A second revolution or civil war as a result of martial law?

Worldwide depression worse than what was seen after the First World War?

A possible third world war, non nuclear, as third world nations try to expand their territory or influence the politics in their region of the world?

Massive outbreaks of various diseases as any semblence of order vanishes?

The list can go on and on, but you get the point. It is a very scary "what if" and the possible results are even scarier. It may never happen, but it is something to think about and possibly prepare for.

...not at all. i think you have a valid point. Sometimes it seems to me that US society is only barely holding together.....just barely.......and it seems a significent minority want it to fall apart......

I've heard decades of these sinister 'better not or else' theories floated as to what would happen if a black man were put in charge in the military, or elected mayor, or governor, or allowed to marry white women, or given the authority to arrest white people, or allowed to star in a steamy love scene with a white star, or allowed to sing on the radio, dance on TV, eat at a diner, vote, and so forth.

Guess what?..it happened, the occasional fool did something stupid, and people got killed...but the end result?
Black people can still vote, etc.  Which is exactly what will happen when a black man is elected to another politicial office... no matter what office.

The worst case scenario is that he doesn't live up to expectations....He gets us into a war where 4,000 are killed and tens of thousands are wounded....It is compounded when we learn that the whole thing could have been avoided....lol...But seriously...

The worst case scenario is that it's the same old, same old.

What people fail to realize is that Obama is "winning" because he lacks experience. Because he is not surrounded by lobbyists...Because he has not yet been bought and sold...Because the majority of his contributions are coming from actual voters. It is simply the appearance of something fresh...Something that holds the imagination that hope is possible.

Is it naive to believe? Maybe...Maybe not. It goes to show how far people have been pushed and just how disgusted they have become that has led to the appeal of an Obama.

I think he is going to win. If he doesn't say something really stupid or some horrific story is exhumed. He has caught my attention. Within Obama I do see the "chance" in a departure from the normal routine of our Presidency and politics....I'm willing to risk my vote in the hopes that chance may come to fruition.

Now Bull, I don't think it belongs in Random Stupidity at all. You've actually given me something to think about.

I can imagine the scenario you've described, whether it's true or would come to pass is left to the future....time will tell.

Obama's finished now anyway with Ralph Nader in the race now.

I don't think it will have an effect. No one is going to allow the Obama train to be derailed....Nader will not have an impact.

riots  were supposed to happen dec 14 2007 when a gang leader, in CAL was put to death. major cities braced for it.

it has been quite a long time since we had riots.     wouldnt you think food on the table is a big enuff issue to get the downtrodden onto the streets?

Thank you for this thread, xBullx. I agree with LaTigresse that this post does not belong in Random Stupidity either. I would also like to add that as a Canadian, and I feel what goes on in the USA is important, not only to me personally, but to the whole world. This is one planet, Earth, and what goes on here affects us all in the long run, I feel.

Obama has a certain powerful charisma and vibe. He is like a piece of the American Dream (that everyone in the world has, no matter where they live, or come from--the dream to be safe, happy, abundant, and to live their life in the way that feels best to them) The American Dream is ages old. In fact in Egyptology they called it, "Day 17", when they could imagine a time of no fear, no doubt, where Earth's Indigenous beings could all have their heart's desire and be in peace.

All along the way something/someone has come along and torn it down whenever it has tried to surface, when it has looked like it might happen. Look at all the amazing cultures and how they were smacked down each time by that similar unloving essence. It goes on all the time.

The pattern of History would be the worst case scenario, that Obama loses his life because he is genuinely the real deal. People sense this about him. It doesnt matter so much that he is new, or inexperienced as much as it does who he is. He could be an actor, a musician and people would take to him. His essence, his soul, if you will, is what people are getting all riled up about. The same way they have done, and still do with John Lennon, Martin Luther King, Bob Marley, John Kennedy for starters. These folks were, and still are, extra-special. They are our true leaders but the Powers That Be cannot have that or their sham will revealed, their real or imagined temples would tumble to the ground.

I truly hope Obama does not end up in the same position as others like him--decent humans with intense vision and personal power. The unloving useless dicks of the world could never hold a candle to these types but they have wrangled the power into their corner for so, so long, it is truly hard to imagine it could ever be another way.
