This is not a specific BDSM post - but I am starting this thread because I was asked about herbs in pregnancy - specifically camomline.

Nella - camomile is said to stimulate the uterus, so it shouldnt be used. You can drink the tea, but it does carry a veryvery slight risk. Is recommended to be avoided.

Some herbs and spices and plants to be avoided. These are commen ones.

Aloe vera is cathartic (purgative and can cause uterine contraction)
Angelica - emmenagogue (increases mentrual flow ) herb for cooking is ok
Black tea - heart irregularities and blood circulation problems.
Butternut - laxative
cayenne & chilli - uterine stimulant.
clove - stimulent and toxic
comfrey - toxic to placenta
Feverfew - uterine stimulant.
Juniper berries - effects bladder and kidney use
Liqourice - emmenagogue
Mistletoe - toxic and stimulant even if absorbed.
Nutmeg - slightly toxic
Parsley - emmenagogue
rue - premature contractions and mmenagogue
Rhubarb - laxative and uterine stimulant emmenagogue.
Sage - (raw) hormone imbalance and uterine stimulant.
Tansy - uterine stimulant.
Wild herry - uterine stimulant.

lavender, peppermint, oregano, juniper, fennel, rosemary, marjoram, and sage are just a more commen selection of oils that effect both the mother and child. Those that are considered OILS should not be used in pregnancy ever.

basil, parsley and sage are ok if cooked.

Jasmine is a uterine relaxant - and can be used in labour.

Concerns on gingseng and babies - causes hormone overuse and production. Best avoided.

Breastfeeding -

Lemon balm, oregano, parsley, peppermint, sage, thyme can lesson milk production and make it weak.
Rhubarb is badbadbad.
Gingseng again. As above.

Garlic can cause colic and sickness in nursing babies. Also if a baby doesnt like the taste, will put them off breast feeding. For the rare child, garlic can be an appetite enhancer, but the colic can interfere.

There is alot more... always consult a doctor or mid-wife over any concerns.

Peace and Love
