Muttling -> NEW Seed and Doomsday Vault Discussion (2/29/2008 4:42:51 AM)

I was thinking about the seed vault discussion and it occurred to me that a man plague would be great for some women (faerytattoodgirl), but it would be horrid for survival purposes.   We haven't perfected woman to woman procreation yet.

Thus, I am willing to submit my seed to a vault.   I will sacrafice my seed for the survival of human kind.   I just need some female volunteers to collect the seed.

Its all this GM foods business they'd be no need for seed vaults without.

I have some technical questions regarding this seed vault:

1) How long will the seeds last without rotting etc?
2) What is the combination to the seed vault (just in case I'm the only living survivor of a pandemic and I need some sprinkles for my bigmac)
3) Haven't we stored enough seeds and crap in sticky back plastic within texts books from when we were ten?
4) What if the seeds start growing in the seed vault thus creating a dense mass of uninhabitable space?
5) Has someone thought about these issues and if not how much are they willing to pay me to troubleshoot them?
6) I need a chair and my own office in the seed vault
7) I've really run out of things to say now but numbering my sentences is fun and harmless.[8|]

ear wax can be preserved for the future.

The seed vault project is fine, but I just don't think it goes far enough. We should also be preserving as much of the animal world as we can too. Since the vault is located in the upper arctic circle, there should be no problem in preserving sperm and egg samples from several major species (including humans) that mankind depends on for food, or whom we've domesticated. Also, they could preserve hard copies of major political and cultural works.

If you're going to get into a "Noah's Ark" mindset, then you should be prepared to take it all the way... and not just favor one particular form of life.

Unless... the people behind the seed vault know something is going on, that we don't. Like the real reason bees are disappearing, and "death blooms" are appearing in the world's oceans. Maybe something's up, and they are just hedging their bets.

Nickel is where the nuclear fusion reaction stops...

If there was an unexposed catastrophic event in the pipeline, why would "they" tell us all about the seed vault?
