I find this rather disturbing. While I am not an avid fan of porn, I will admit that I enjoy looking at the free previews from places like hogtied.com and www.sexandsubmission.com now and then. I would hate to think that material made by consenting adults, for consenting adults is going to be a target of the extreme right's efforts to push their morality onto everyone.

Washington -- The FBI is joining the Bush administration's War on Porn. And it's looking for a few good agents.

Last month, the bureau's Washington Field Office began recruiting for a new anti-obscenity squad. Attached to the job posting was a memo from FBI headquarters to all 56 field offices, describing the initiative as "one of the top priorities" of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and, by extension, of "the Director," Robert Mueller.

The new squad will divert eight agents, a supervisor and assorted support staff to gather evidence against "manufacturers and purveyors" of pornography -- not the kind exploiting children, but the kind that depicts, and is marketed to, consenting adults.

"I guess this means we've won the war on terror," said one exasperated FBI agent, speaking on condition of anonymity because poking fun at headquarters is not regarded as career-enhancing. "We must not need any more resources for espionage."

I heard about this on my morning radio show and I thought it was a joke. I just can't wrap my head around this whole thing. I have to admit, there was a time when I liked Gee-Dub, but the longer this twit is in power, the more I am ashamed for ever thinking he was "cute and sort of charming". UGH

welcome to the arena of government which no longer has to worry about alienating rights given in one document or another. it's a "brave new world" indeed. so it took a bit past "1984" to remove checks and balances to a large degree. god bless amerika. some might wish to read that patriot act that went into effect when the u.s. decided to go fight the bad guys. it's quite a read.

First was the UK in their recent measure against "violent" 'porn', and now
the Land of the (NOT) free jumps on the bandwagon and decides what we
can/can't do, and what we can/cannot look at.

We need to stand up and say to the govt "wtf", and enough is enough.

This is more ridiculous than when Chong was busted for bongs when Osama
was - and still is - more important.

With Dubya having another Supreme Court vacancy to fill it will be interesting to see if Gonzales gets picked; I believe he was mentioned as a possibility for the seat before Roberts was selected. The religious right was upset with the Roberts nomination because he had done some pro bono work for gays; wouldn't they just be thrilled with Gonzales who is so obviously in their camp.

Not exactly. Gonzales is in the neocon camp, but a lot of religious right-wingers are wary of his views on abortion and social equity. They wouldn't be particularly happy with him.

By the way, are we all sure this thing isn't a hoax? The passage in the OP doesn't read like bona fide journalism.

Christian conservatives, long skeptical of Gonzales, greeted the pornography initiative with what the Family Research Council called "a growing sense of confidence in our new attorney general."

Well said LAM. Gonzales is in the neocon camp. Gonzales is also huge advocate of open borders, gun control and an affiliate of LaRaza. Lots of disinformation is being pumped out there, and *real* conservatives want nothing to do with Gonzales.

For anyone who is the least bit confused about the difference between *real* conservatives and the neocons, I highly recommend that you pick up a copy of ''Rise of the Vulcans'',it's an excellent read. James Mann takes you back to the inception of the word '' Neocon'' and the early days of guys like Richard Pearle and Scoop Jackson who lend credence to the word.

You know what? If it was the first of April this would be funny. BUt it's not.
I'm not much of a porn watcher- actually I'm the worst person to watch it with because I have a running commentary to go with the porn- but what ever happened to freedom of expression *looks at the president* ah.

Now I could understand if Buish wanted to crack down on kiddie porn because that's just distasteful and unetical. But he wants to crack down on the adult consentiual stuff.

being an atheist i know nothing about this god of yours.......

but i DO believe we need to roust out some players from congress and the house......and tell mr big shot in the white house to straighten up and fly right.

its like this pay attention to history everyone has a concept or an idea. some like to do the popular thing. to me just have fun dont worry about what everyone else does or thinks. no matter what it all comes down to what you do when you get up and what you did at the end of the day. your the only one that has to face that mirror no one else. we can find examples or post to control our point of view but in the end we all just go about doing are own thing when posting try not do be like every else in this bdsm islussion dilusion be more then human. lead by example make lots of smiles stay clear of negitive personlites. never go out of your way to hurt someone or take their smile way karam sucks :)

This happens when thouse that work for the people forget who the bose is, and deside that they are above the laws that they make. It is not one party or and other but the mentality of the people that are sent or in most cases just expect that they are intaled to it. You get this from those that have been there to long. How long has your reprasentative or senators been there? Oh and for soem it happend the first time or in some even befor that. Just who they think they are. And it is not the jus the right doing this. the left removed most of the controls that were in place to provent it.
