Ok I have been having random vomiting lately and been really emotional...I kind of want to think the emotions have been related to me having bi-polar but they are soooo much worse than they have been in a very long time like at least 4 years. I have had some random vomiting that just comes out of nowhere...kinda would like to know if anyone has heard of this or had it before I shell out the money for a doc visit.

Ok so I am not the only one that thinks that....The only thing that is giving me pause on that is that I had my period and it was heavy....didn't change at all really and I had talked to my Mom about it because when she was pregnant with me the first few months she had her period but she said it was light not like her normal cycles... and the random vomiting is weird its not everyday or night just out of the blue...without warning really...I do plan on getting a pregnancy test tho when I get my next pay check.

Not to sound gross or anything but, I bled like a stuck pig up till my 6 month with my daughter...I never even knew I was pregnant...only went to the doctor because I was so sick ( throwing up, morning, night...it varied, tired, listless, the works ). So...the whole 'no period' thing during pregnancy means shit lol. I would suggest making sure that you are NOT pregnant before you start really worry about things.

OK Thanks...lol I don't really want to be right now but if I am then I am. The emotional thing is what really has me worried, but I dunno I like to be prepared for what ever it might be before I go to the doc. Just how I am.[:D]

Any other changes in your body? Or are you having any symptoms before you vomit? Stomach aches or cramps etc.

The problem with the mood swings is getting to a point where you stop your meds. You can be utterly convinced it is the "right" thing to do at the time, but you know how much worse things will get. Regardless of what else is going on, your meds are clearly not working as well now as they have in the past. This requires medical attention, to either adjust the meds or change them. Certainly when you go you can mention the possibility of pregnancy. That too might require a change in your meds, so as not to harm the fetus. In my opinion, you should see your doctor.

Well, with the meds for my bi-polar is that I am not on them have not been on them in months... my moods have been pretty stable until the past month and I haven't been on meds since probably the middle of last year because I lost my insurance and I can't afford a couple of hundred dollars a month to see the doc plus meds. To answer camille I had a friend mention a few things I didn't think of about some changes that could mean I am pregnant. I have a few other changes...mostly things I won't care to mention on the forum [:)]. I don't have any other symptom with the vomiting no stomach cramps or anything unless I manage to keep it down which I did get to the other day but it just made my stomach hurt which that eventually went away. I do plan on going to my gp since it is based on income and alot more affordable. Plus I work at walmart where they got those cheap scripts hehe.

Are you anxious at all? Anxiety can cause nausea and vomitting.

Anxiety can cause vomiting- but anxiety is like the wallpaper for the bi polar or GAD person, can't detect it. The diagnoses is often to stuff a an ativan down them and see what happens. Seriously- there are physical markers as well as mood ones. Planned Parenthood used to have free preggers tests, look at the web page. I know here they do sliding scale fee care whether you want pre natal care or the other. Your hormones going nuts from pregnancy will send bi polar into overdrive. And it's also the nature of B-P to sneak back up on you. Back in the day B-Ps used to spend their pregnancies in the hospital, so you want to get it all sorted out promptly. I think tegretol or Trileptal is the mood stabilizer ok'd for pregnancy, take a list of Wal Marts $4 generics to the doctors office with you though.

Yep, my moods were all over the place when I was pregnant. Kinda like when I was a teen. I'd get a test asap. If you're not preggers, you need to get in to your doctor...well...even if you are... (boring answer given again and again, but so true)

Well, I have been on trileptal in the past it doesn't work my husband is on tegretol, so that maybe one to try if I am pregnant. Its just I have thought so much in the past that I was pregnant that I don't really think I am now just for the simple fact that in 4 years I haven't been pregnant once. I do have anxiety problems runs in my family (my dad had bi-polar my mom has severe anxiety issues). Even tho I have anxiety attacks can't get the doc to give me anything because I am bi-polar. The anxiety attacks I have I can tell when I am having one...I have been having them since I was like 13. I just know I am easy to cry my eyes out right now and I feel depressed at times and others I can go around just generally happy and smiling. The closest planned parenthood around here is a good 50 or more mile drive away as of right now I don't have a car to go anywhere my father in law takes me to work and to the store and back home. The health department here doesn't give free pregnancy tests even if you don't have a job you have to find away to pay for it. And all the pregnancy tests I have seen clinics use they are just like the ones you can buy and usually you can buy them cheaper than going to the doctor. But my husband has gotten on to me about not going to the doctor so I will be going just have to get the money I will need first, which is just a few days away. I know I need to get my bi-polar under control that is why I am going to the doctor I am just hoping that a GP can treat it well enough to keep me from getting put in the hospital again, I have always been treated by a mental health doctor and I don't know how well a GP can treat it but at least I do know what I have that should make it easier. Thanks for all the advice.

I don't know which meds you were on for your bipolar but IF they were a brand name usually the Dr can get samples; the drug companies themselves have programs that will help as well, for people on limited incomes. Take care of yourself.

MissAngelandsub, Do NOT wait for a paycheck. Esp. as you are bi-polar. I am also bi-polar, btw. If you are a medication managed bi-polar, you need to know - your medications are most likely counterindicated for pregnancy. If you can not afford a pregnancy test, go to a pregnancy center and get a test done. If you would not consider terminating, go to a prolife center, they will test you and they will be there to give you support throughout. Just make sure you feel strongly that you won't be terminating before you step foot in thier office - I don't wish to set you up for that kind of presure, hon. Find out if you are pregnant ASAP. You need prenate care sooner, not later. I knew the night Master impregnanted me that it was a real possiblity, becuase I have practiced NFP in the past and I know when I am fertile. I had warned him, and he chose to, uhm, well, anyhow, and now Jr. is on his way. Knowing it was a possiblity I had a urine test at my docs office the next week, which was negitive, and went back two weeks later for a blood test. I had confirmation at three weeks pregnant, so I was able to quickly come off inapproprate meds, which included my diabettes meds. Get to a doctor now.

My dollar store carries the same pregnancy tests that we used when I worked for a primary care doc. You might want to check that out. Also, check out "Partnership for Prescription Assistance" and google "patient assistance" with the name of the manufacturer of your drugs. Cali

CalifChic, She should def check out partnership for America, I am in no way discouraging that. I am just saying, most people are unaware - there is currently NO help available, from drug companies, from goverment, from clinics (before moving to Master I lived in a city with really great indigent care and a great clinic system) - from anywhere I tried, for anyone who is insured. At one point my drugs were costing over $300 a month, and my monthly gross income was less than $500. I appreciated the insurance, but the meds were killing me. Partnership for America tends to make people think that there is enough help out there and we can quit worrying about the insurance crisis. BTW, I have really good insurance. I am sure my full drug load costs $2000 a month, before coverage. That does nothing to change the fact that, without Master in my life, I simply could not afford the copays.

Yes, I am aware of the people who fall in the "gap" - those with insurance that covers prescriptions, but still has such a high cost to the patient that they would be better off without the script coverage so they could qualify for some sort of patient assistance. There are a few things available that can help those people - not a fix for everybody of course. One is asking your doctor about generics. Of course not all drugs are available in generics (yet), but if a generic is available there are several places that offer many generics for under $10 for a 30 days supply (Walmart, Costco, among others). Of course there are a few newer drugs that are standalones in their class and for which there is nothing else to try, but these really are few and far between (for MOST people). For instance, Caduet is a relatively new drug that combines the blood pressure med Norvasc with the cholesterol drug Lipitor. So if your doc prescribes Caduet, when discussing alternatives you may find yourself with a script for Norvasc (whose brand name patent expires this year) and a script for another cholesterol drug such as Zocor (which is available in generic) instead of Lipitor (which won't go generic until 2010 at the minimum). Well, angelikaJ if I could remember the name of one of them I would but I can't it was a new seizure medication plus lithium. Currently I am on NO meds for bi-polar the only meds I take is Metformin for my insulin resistance. tsatke- the reason I have to wait for a pay check is because there are no free places up here even the health department wants you to pay something and I am sure my doctor is cheaper. I am currently broke I have no money til Thursday and I will buy an at home test but I will also go to the doctor just to double check and I will ask for a blood test to be 100%positive. As far as medicines to use for my bi-polar I can always tell them I have to have something on the generics for $4 list. I get my insulin resistance meds for $4 and I got my lithium for $9 but I haven't taken it because I don't know if I am pregnant for one and with out the other medicine I was on I don't know if I should up how much lithium I take or not. I do know if I am pregnant I can get back on Tenn-care for the duration of my pregnancy which is awesome and I won't have to worry about footing that bill on my own. I know I have to get to the doctor but if I don't have the money they will not see me and my GP can see me before the health department because the health department has a waiting list that is like 2 weeks long and my doc can get me in the same day I call if needed.
