WOODINVILLE, Wash. - Three seven-figure dream homes went up in flames early Monday in a Seattle suburb, apparently set by eco-terrorists who left a sign mocking the builders' claims that the 4,000-plus-square-foot houses were environmentally friendly.

This is such a stupid act.  Be concerned about the environment   polute it with more gunk in the air.    Sheesh

Did they buy "carbon credits" before engaging in this senseless act of contributing to global warming, er, I mean, "climate change"?

I was thinking the same thing. But added the fact that the home builders are just going to rebuild. So not only has "elf" contributed directly to polluting the air, but they have by definition created a demand for three more multimillion dollar homes to be built. How many resources are required for these homes? Because good ol' elf just doubled it.

Hey Smith   Look at all the free advertising the builders get too.

Oh excellent point. I forgot about that as well. Wow....someone might wonder if elf is really a cover for the big companies 'free-advertising' branch. They seem to be helping the companies and hurting the environment moreso than the companies they claim to be against.

a statement about sprawal and  poor planning.

just  wait till someone   gets  the  idea on solving  homelessness.   empty   houses.   move em in.

This is not the first time this type story has been in the news. I read about this group or one like this several years ago. And since this is the case and mabye sales were down, who knows, the builders might have set the blaze themselves. You just never know anymore. You just never know.

KenDckey -> RE: Eco Terrorists At Work (3/3/2008 4:39:37 PM)

although it is possible that the builders did the deed, I choose to believe it is waco environmentalists.

Those houses aren't far from us.  It's strange that eco-terrorists would target houses that were trying very hard to be "green".

KenDckey -> RE: Eco Terrorists At Work (3/4/2008 4:07:53 AM)

Doesn't suprise me at all that they would burn them.    It gets their name and their cause in the news.   Being right has nothing to do with it.   Making people think is all that matters

mhawk -> RE: Eco Terrorists At Work (3/4/2008 7:07:08 AM)

well growing up around the pacific northwest yes there are some things that" eco terrorists" have done to gain publicity. do i support what they do and how they do it? no. and here's my reason for that. not all evnironmentalists out there are like that. it's like any other "group" each one has its' share of crazies. it may have been the "eco terrorists" or it could have been the builders as another post stated.

here's an interesting thought though, back in the 90's a town i lived in did not have any public input on 30 ancient oak trees being torn down so the employees at a certain company could have a sidewalk bridge and parking garage.(god forbid they should have to walk on a public sidewalk) when the mayor gave the go ahead on this naturally the public found out.so yes there was a protest and it got out of hand on both sides, public and law enforcement. i know i was there. i saw many friends who just had protest signs and doing nothing to agitate law officials get pepper sprayed and even tear gassed.(yes this still happens). did the city officials face ramifications,of course not,but the others got up to a week in jail.

yes there are thing "eco terrorists" do that piss me off, like going in to logging comapanies land and spiking the trees, how that does good for anyone i do not know.
food not bombs getting arrested for openly feeding the homeless, how are they eco terror i don't know that either.

uglieness can come from any source. but what i feel is this.it could have been anyone. i have yet to meet and evironmentalist that burns houses down to prove a point, the majority if there is a problem go to their city council.

i could blame horses in kentucky and tennessee being killed by their owners for glue and such after the horse looses one race too many, but not all race horse owners are like that, just as i said with the eco terroritst, it could be anyone but not all of them

anyway that's my 2 cents and maybe a few more.
