Silicone lube is the best for most uses.  This includes Pjur Eros, Gun Oil, and a few others.  Interestingly, Metis Black, owner of Tantus, argues that silicone lube CAN be used with high-density silicone toys.  My own experiments support this.

Problem is, some of the best anal toys are electrical.  And silicone is completely non-conductive.  So there need to be water-based lubes if you're planning to offer electrical toys -- and you need to sell electrical anal toys, cuz they're the bestest.

Also, you'll want some Anal-Ease or something like it, to desensitize the sphincter.

You also can not use silicone based lubes on silicone toys...

Big no no. Also anything Oil based on female bits is generaly bad as pointed out.

My girl and I are both allergic to most lubes but we found "For Play" to be the best for us. it has worked great with vaginal and anal toys.. and is compatable with everything. My boy became allergic to astro glide and all the other lubes we tried.. ( along with us )  and the "For Play" works well on him too.

I use Astroglide, but I've tried Ben Gay - that didn't work out so good. Neither did Aspercreme.

Do NOT by any means stock Anal Ease because there is a numbing agent in there...that means the person being fucked won't know if there is something wrong after a while. You're supposed to feel those bits for a reason. And I'll echo everyone else...do NOT use oil based lube...ever. It's not good for anyone's insides and it errodes latex at an extremely fast rate when friction is applied.

As for my personal favorites I'm up there with ID glide, wet, and the brand name lube, Jizz.

On the rare times I am allowed lube, I use Wet Original Gel Glide.  Water based.  I've been happy with it.  Then again, all I have to compare it to is no lube. ;)

I am a huge fan of Slippery Stuff.  I've heard people speak very highly of several other lubes, but they all seem to contain silicone, and basically all the butt-toys in my toybag are silicone, so that's not an option.  And the latex condoms I bag 'em in means no oil-based lubes either.

I'd be open (or the pet would be!) to other choices that do not contain silicone.

I got turned on to Slippery Stuff by Fairy Butch's book "The Ultimate Guide to Strap-On Sex," where, glory be, she rated lubes based on slipperiness, viscosity, and so forth.  I'm sure she enjoyed the testing process.

Albolene is a make-up remover, made from petroleum and mineral oil. It is available at drugstores and can sit at your bedside and not cause disapproving looks from Granny when she visits.

It is the porn industies secret lube.
