sultryvoice -> Looking for a book (9/25/2005 7:27:09 AM)

Hello All,

Our leather literary group is wanting to read a particular book for discussion. The problem is it went out of print a long time ago. Finding copies has been an ordeal. We find them but they are $130-$150..Can anyone help us get a few copies of this book..Some Women by Laura Antoniou. The head of the group has written Laura and has not heard from her as yet. I have searched every book site I can find. I found 2 but when I put my order in, a few hours later, I get a cancelled email. They didn't have it even though they listed it.

Help please!

Respectfully,
sultry

I think Some Women was published by Masquerade Books, the same publisher that initially published The Loving Dominant. That would mean that it was out of print for almost a decade or so.

I doubt that Laura can help much. There wasn't much warning that Masquerade was going out of business so its authors didn't have much time to stock up. I was lucky in that Loving Dominant was picked up by Greenery as soon as I got the contractual issues with Masquerade out of the way, but for example, I only have five copies of my book Torquemada Killer left. It takes a LOT more than an enthusiastic blow job to get one of those [laugh]

I don't know how Laura feels about it, but when my local book discussion group wanted to read Torquemada Killer, I made a file with the text available so they could download it. Of course, I know and trust these people. I could understand that Laura might not be willing to do this sort of thing for strangers.

John,
The woman who started this up here has written Laura and to date, no answer. She has also been contacting the women who wrote the essays in the book and is getting a few answers. I understand what you are saying about the publisher gong out of business and no time to get things done. I was just hoping for other avenues to get this and not pay over $100.00 per copy..That is rediculous (sp)..for a paperback, no less, without an autograph! Oh, well, that is supply and demand!

Thank you John for your comments..

Respectfully,
sultry

I still want to meet you and Libby!

I looked on ebay and seen books by the author but not the exact book. Then I searched and found this site that had it for a fair price.
http://www.alibris.com/search/search.cfm?S=R&wauth=Laura+antoniou&siteID=1JSk6CbYEf0-P3GwmCJnAH3Vd6hW5TGj0w
hope that link works
Thank you for bringing up the book I never heard of it and the other books she wrote.

sultryvoice -> RE: Looking for a book (10/5/2005 1:10:15 PM)

Thank you for the link but I have been there and the copy they are selling is $78.00..This is what I am talking about..For a $6.95 paperback, you get prices like this and much higher. I have looked through 8 different book searches that go all over the world and still it's prices like I previously said..

Again, thank you for looking..

Respectfully,
sultry

MistressSybella -> RE: Looking for a book (10/8/2005 11:05:53 PM)

Yes, that's what I found too. $70-80 seems to be the rate.

Here is a page that will explain it all...

$78.00 for a collector's item is not all that bad. Look at the hundreds of thousands of dollars that people pay for baseball cards that came free when you purchased a nickle piece of gum that was so hard you chipped a tooth when attempting to chew it.

naomi -> RE: Looking for a book (10/20/2005 4:13:00 AM)

i dont know how much help this will be but these people have been able to get me some rather hard to find out of prints. write them and put my name in the subject box... naomi snyder
you'll wish to talk to Dawn, [email protected] this is an email address. it is a new age book store and very open to the lifestyle though they are not involoved.

stormsfate -> RE: Looking for a book (10/21/2005 8:10:02 AM)

I don't know if they will ship to the US, but http://bookshop.blackwell.co.uk/bobuk/scripts/home.jsp?action=search&type=isbn&term=1563333007&source=3217066412 has it listed for something close to 8 pounds, I believe. Its showing as not currently in stock, but may be worth a shot and somewhat cheaper than the prices you have found so far.

Good luck!

Maybe check the leather archives.....I understand they are starting a new project, to get out of print material scanned and available to people for eductional purposes. Never hurts to give 'em a try.

Hey John Warren I gave you a small book plug on Myspace. On the blog section of Myspace you can do a search and show what music or book you are enjoying, so I found The Loving Domminant, and it is displayed and it is a link that can be clicked on if someone wants to buy it. I made some wacky blog entries that I was going to delete because they were so goofy and I got a few messages from people that enjoyed them. If I try to get wacky on this site I am not taken serious and the peanut gallery attacks me lol. I will give other books of yours a plug on future blog entries. Here is the Myspace Link then you click onto the Blog section.         http://www.myspace.com/90652966

NoMercySadist -> RE: Looking for a book (2/15/2007 2:21:34 PM)

amazon has a few cheap copies available used right now

MasterC70 -> RE: Looking for a book (2/19/2007 8:11:27 PM)

I guess minds think alike.  I was just about to suggest amazon as well. They have six copies listed in the used section from 10.00 to 60.09 in cost.

I'm one of the authors in that book.

Have your group leader contact me and I can send her a copy of my essay if she wants.

cjenny -> RE: Looking for a book (2/22/2007 9:53:37 AM)

Amazon online, Borders Books & Music offline will order out of print items at no extra charge. They also order used books now, for those not aware.

Sigh I really miss working there lol.

SimplyMichael -> RE: Looking for a book (2/24/2007 7:42:40 AM)

Why worry about the price?  Buy one, have everyone take turns reading it aloud and then sell it off when you are done.
