Part of what a client pays for in this type of scenario is discretion = secrecy.
Anyone want to take a bet on how much Playboy and Penthouse will offer her for a cover?
Entrepreneurs on Cafe Press started selling "Client #9" t-shirts the day after the scandal broke.

damn, i still don't understand what she could have done that's worth that kind of money.

I bet it's making for a lot of feverish imagination.

Spitzer was reffered to as "Client #9" by the company that ran the operation.
Jay Leno said he was reffered to as "Client 4 1/2" by the hookers.

The New York Governor is reported to be named in an investigation of a prostitution ring called Emperor's Club VIP where police have so far arrested 4 people.

The ring had a website which displays scantly-clad women with a rating and a price per hour starting at $5,500.
In your haste to bash you seem to have misread the price list.

Spitzer has yet to comment on the allegations, but plans an announcement later today.

So much for a Democrat that campainged on the promise to "root out Republican corruption."
In your haste to bash you seem to have inserted something that he never said.  He pledged to root out corruption, not just Republican corruption.

Reports are that Spitzer plans to resign....

Calm down, thompson...

The original article said the agency started at $5,500... they then updated it to what he actually paid...$4,300. They dont let you edit posts in this forum after an hour so my post had to stay as is.

4300$ isn't 10,000$. So... The feds are data-mining *ALL* credit card transactions!

It was $4300 for this last little adventure... Spitzer has spent $80,000 on this little hobby. And the bank reported it to the IRS. The IRS then reported it to the FBI.

It's been the law for decades that if the bank moves $10,000 from one location to anther, they have to report it. They also report smaller chunks if they suspect someone is trying to avoid the $10,000 threshold. The bank reported it. The IRS looked into it and discovered a dummy corporation was being used as a medium. The IRS feared possible blackmail or money laundering. So they informed the FBI. The FBI then tapped Spitzer's phones (the dummy corporation he was using was probable cause). And the FBI discovered the prostitute ring and caught him negotiating money and location with a hooker.

In your knee jerk haste to bash do you even bother to read the link you posted?  The link you posted does not say he spent $80,000 it says the total may go that high....although at four large a pop plus tip that is less than twenty trips to the play ground.

And the bank reported it to the IRS. The IRS then reported it to the FBI.
Of course a group of hookers this large and with as many customers that it obviously has you don't think he was singled out.  How many other clients have been outed?  Is it possible that he is their only client...you really are smarter than that, I have read a lot of your posts.  Do you know anyone who pays $4,000 for a little pussy?
Your posts are full of hatred for demopubs...you know I find both demopubs and republicrats to be scum but this is nothing but bashing.  Aside from the fact that he is a demopub what do you find repulsive about him.  In his public career which of his prosecutions do you feel was unjustified?  All the rhetoric about his hypocrisy is just more hypocrisy.

What a load of horse pucky...in todays economy $4,000 is nothing.  That would not make the monthly house payment on a tract shack in Compton.

She's alright, but $4300?  She's not that great.  If you have that kind of money to be throwing around, you'd figure he'd have no problem finding a bevy of willing, young women to fool around with that aren't prostitutes.  He was the Attorney General of New York for fuck's sake!  He was the chief law enforcement officer for the 2nd largest state in the country, so he should have fucking known better.  He is guilty of violating the Mann act, and that's serious shit.  He paid the girl to come down to Washington D.C., which is transporting a person across state lines for immoral purposes.  He is federally fucked on this one, and it's his own damn fault.  What a fucking moron!

luckydog1 -> RE: NY Gov Spitzer linked to prostituition ring? (3/13/2008 6:39:36 PM)

Farg is completely incorrect.  There was no credit card involved at all.  Spitzer was setting up dummy corparations in the exact manner it is done to launder money.  And it got noticed.

The rumour I heard was that he was going to switch his super delegate vote from Clinton to Obama..... Sort of a warning that she does still have all the info from the FBI files, and isn't afraid to use it.

Yeah, that's a good cover story.

The reality is that the feds have an OC-3 line to all the bank clearing centers. Since check-2001 it's been all electronic anyway.

***EVERY*** financial transaction is "reported". Period. Whether it's Spitzer spending a few grand on a whore, or someone's kid pulling a hundred bucks to buy a bag of weed.

Spitzer's problem was that he didn't play ball with the Bushies. He *really* pissed everyone off when he said "Fuck You" to the feds ID scam, and now he isn't going to be around pushing for the investigations of the crooked banks, AT&T Spies who owe you $ 146,000 , etc...

Good think the Loyal Bushies took over the DOJ, huh?

Actually, if this (ever) was the law (which of course, it never has been), every bank would have to report to the feds every single time they deposited their daily receipts into "overnight funds" (which is where most banks put their money...in loans to the federal banking system on an overnight basis).

The law (used to be) that anyone depositing $10,000.00 in cash at a federally or state chartered bank (i.e., not all banks or financial institutions) would initiate a required record that was to be sent to the feds identifying the depositor.

This does not guarantee that the depositor would be interviewed by the feds...but if a pattern became established...they'd eventually get a visit from Uncle Fed.

It's now a lower amount (and includes other new criterion as well), and I believe it's currently $4,999.00 or more (might be a different number...but it's less than $10,000.00 now).

That was a really long post to admit that you were completely incorrect about credit card monitoring Farg.

You posted data that agreed with me.  I called it a dummy corparation, the article you cited calls it a shell company.  Same exact thing.  Thanks for showing me to be correct, and you to be making up stuff.

It's *every* transaction. Every credit card charge. Every clearing check. Every transfer you make from savings to checking.

Hey, if Bush is going to break 18 USC 1001, and 18 USC 371, *and* make it supposedly legitimate to torture prisoners, why not break the law and spy on everyone?

You can tell the Fools and Suckers that you're "Protecting them"... Like a retard needs to be protected, or a baby..

If they get caught, they can grant retroactive immunity to the criminals, rather than prosecuting and fining them.

That way, AT&T doesn't have to pay YOU the $ 146,000 fine they owe you under the Law.
