8.  Guests have up to one year to send a wedding gift and don't need to do so on the big day. That isn't to say a guest should wait so long however; it's preferable to bestow gifts upon the happy couple within 30 to 60 days of the wedding.
practically everyone has a gift registry these days and it's not just for bridal either. the last wedding i attended, i gave the couple a gift card (actually everyone gave gift cards) so they could pick out what they needed/wanted.  the next one i'm attending in July - yep, giving my cousin and her hubby-to-be a gift card.

10. Even though more people seem to be doing it lately, it's very bad form to wear white unless you happen to be the bride.
color is in for the modern brides! i have seen gowns for the avid sports fan to those who want to spice things up. yes, the traditional white/ivory is still as well.  also it's not only for first time brides but 2nd time brides as well.

i wore purple when i married my ex at city hall.  if and when i get married again - i'm wearing ivory.

11. Dress appropriately for the occasion. Unless the wedding is on the beach, men should wear jackets and ties and women should wear dresses. Clothes should be tasteful and not provocative.
strapless, sleeveless, with a shawl or not - whatever you like. remember pick the dress that fits your personality, style and taste. now i've seen guests who have dressed distasteful, tacky and very provocative.

good luck and enjoy your special day
