Late night listening

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jk1nw4Uoxig

I woke up early this morning around 4am
With the moon shining bright as headlights on the interstate
I pulled the covers over my head and tried to catch some sleep
But thoughts of us kept keeping me awake
Ever since you found yourself in someone else's arms
I've been tryin' my best to get along
But that's OK
There's nothing left to say, but

Take your records, take your freedom
Take your memories I don't need'em
Take your space and take your reasons
But you'll think of me
And take your cat and leave my sweater
'Cause we have nothing left to weather
In fact I'll feel a whole lot better
But you'll think of me, you'll think of me

I went out driving trying to clear my head
I tried to sweep out all the ruins that my emotions left
I guess I'm feeling just a little tired of this
And all the baggage that seems to still exist
It seems the only blessing I have left to my name
Is not knowing what we could have been
What we should have been
So

Take your records, take your freedom
Take your memories I don't need'em
Take your space and take your reasons
But you'll think of me
And take your cat and leave my sweater
'Cause we have nothing left to weather
In fact I'll feel a whole lot better
But you'll think of me

Someday I'm gonna run across your mind
Don't worry, I'll be fine
I'm gonna be alright
While you're sleeping with your pride
Wishing I could hold you tight
I'll be over you
And on with my life

So take your records, take your freedom
Take your memories I don't need'em
And take your cat and leave my sweater
'Cause we have nothing left to weather
In fact I'll feel a whole lot better
But you'll think of me

So take your records, take your freedom
Take your memories I don't need'em
Take your space and all your reasons
But you'll think of me
And take your cat and leave my sweater
'Cause we got nothing left to weather
In fact I'll feel a whole lot better
But you'll think of me, you'll think of me, yeah

And you're gonna think of me
Oh someday baby, someday

I've been working on doing double strokes on the snare and the mounted tom before I move over to the floor tom's triplet. The way Mitch Mitchell plays it is fairly easy. I like a challenge. [8D]

"Saturday Afternoon" about the Human Be-in in the Haight; "Summer of Love" 1967 10,000 people grooving together on a special batch Owsley made and gave away. Not a single incident of violence.
"...Saturday afternoon,
Yellow clouds rising in the noon,
acid, incense and balloons;
Saturday afternoon,
people dancing everywhere,
Loudly shouting "I don't care!"
It's a time for growing,
and a time for knowing love;
Saturday afternnoon,..."

Hippiekinkster -> RE: Rock on (3/16/2008 1:09:52 AM)

This is one of my all-time favorite songs: "White Bird"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmb69MdeJBc&feature=related
And this one, which is next on the LP: "Hot Summer Day"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4w5wZS3P9I

Heard them both in mid 1970 in Tempe, AZ. Long story how I got there. Stayed at a house with a couple Freaks. Silly me, I went bopping around the back yard barefoot and tripped over some little Cacti. Hell, I was from near Buffalo. An eye-opener, for damn sure.

I'm not trying to monopolize the thread, Brothers and Sisters, just tryin to share some of the stuff I grew up with. 69 was a significant year for me. I got experienced and gained experience.

Cheesey ? Well...somtimes, I can be a cheese ho.

Speaking of cheese and the problem of washing sawdust, wood shavings and such, must be a bitch washing that 'zilla spunk out of those lovely curls.

"Sunshine" has a deceptive drum part. It sounds like it's 3/4 time, but it's 4/4. And Ginger sounds like what he plays (on all the Cream stuff) is easier than it really is. Good vid of Ginger showing some licks on youtube. I won't link to it 'cause nobody will watch it anyway.

Dude, I've enjpyed everyones contribution to this thread. I also enjoy being introduced to music I haven't heard before. What a nice way to share. Let's keep rocking.A good  way to get to know something about someone is to listen to music they enjoy, imo. My taste
in music is pretty wide. You could say I'm an omnivore. I love Ginger Baker, of course. I love Chet Baker too. Btw, I saw the obit for Buddy Miles the other day, another great drummer.

There you go with that defeatist, leftie attitude..... [8D]

Kidding aside, Ginger Baker is one of the all time greats. Hell, all three of those guys deserve all the kudos they get.
