I'm calling this 'competitive pain' now, & I generally now call the other person on it, tell them, 'Oh, I didn't realize this was competitive pain. You win, I don't wanna win that contest. You can be the most fucked up person around, I concede.' Tends to stop them cold, lol, & maybe even shift their thinking . . . . .

Doesn't necessarily get me the sympathy / attention / comforting I was looking for, but I maybe / prolly I was looking in the wrong place . ... Again, darn . . . . . lol

Status: offline 		I understand what Kia's talking about.  My mom's side of the family was famous for that.  You could say, "my foot hurts."  Next thing you know, his or her foot and leg hurts.  Then you say, "I'm sorry.  Sounds terrible.  Reminds me of when I broke my leg."  Then you find out that his or her leg was not only broken one time, but severed... and left under a rock... at the bottom of a canyon... surrounded by rabid wolves... who haven't eaten in 10 years.

Yeah, I know all about those contests.

i especially hate it when i want to say nasty things to people like "pop another pill" or similar hateful things.
