Unlike those beasties that fly around in the midwest, the tornadoes here are small, skittish things. They dance around overhead, teasing those below with the where and when they'll strike. Just when you think they're going to touch down, they dart back up into the sky and skip over. Eventually, they hit oh so briefly, much like the way a bee stings. But, when they do land, they can rip houses in half, etc. (like what happened around during the night). We all complained about the 30+ days of no rain and how parched, dry, and tinder-like everything was. Now, as we begin the fourth straight day of non-stop rain, we're wishing we didn't complain that much. I hate it when "Be careful of what you ask for, it may come true" actually happens in real life.
