You're sweet to say all that, dear, but it was kinda My fault. The cat that grabbed him off My lap was a semi-feral who was only in the house to get something to eat. She was sitting on the floor at My feet, waiting for her shot, and she'd been perving the squirrel cage for hours. None of our other cats had ever tried anything, so I was complacent.
We do wildlife damage control and rehab for our state, so a house full of various wild and domestic creatures is normal. Currently on deck: eight cats, six rats, one female Mallard duck, one baby possum (also female, and an excellent candidate for release. possums are so funny-looking, but she's such a toot), and one very sick little boy squirrel, who was already not a candidate for release because of initial injuries sustained in his fall from his nest when he was a hairless newborn. He's a lovebug, and a fighter, though, and so am I. We love him very much.
