Mine has an an auto 10 hour shut off. You can find ones with say a 3 hour auto shut off instead. My parents left theirs on day and night all day, just so the bed would be warm in case they wanted to get in and it eventually killed it I think, It doesn't heat up any more. But I do think they're safe enough to leave on for a while, though they do say that diabetics and people insensitive to heat and really little kids shouldn't usequote:
