I hate the bad news I received this morning. Been busy preparing the second play titled 'Death' which is scheduled to open Dec 21st and is also being prepared for jury selection to FringeNYC, New York's Fringe Theatre Festival. The play features two characters meeting in the afterlife, Alison, the woman who dies from pneumonia and enters the afterlife, and Hannah, who is the personification of Death and who takes Alison from life and guides her through the afterlife. Last week we had to cancel rehearsals due to the fact that the actress playing Alison lost her voice and came down with flu, and the mother of the actress playing the role of Hannah (the personification of Death) was taken suddenly ill with a chest infection and rushed into hospital. This morning the actress playing Hannah called me to inform me that her mother passed away this morning. I've expressed my sympathy, condolences and support and have postponed the opening performances, assured the actress, who still wants to play the role of Hannah, that she has my support and that she should take the time to make the arrangements, mourn and grieve. But it has cast a rather dark shadow over the theatre and the weekend.
