Document - When to shred
Bank deposit slips - Once you've reconciled your statement
Brokerage statements - Hold until you sell the securities; then with your tax returns for 7 years
Canceled checks - After one year (7 years if you need them to support tax filings)
Certificates of deposit - Once they mature
Check statements - After one year
Credit-card statements - After one year (7 years if you need them to support tax filings)
Annually renewed insurance premiums - After renewal
Term life insurance - Once the term expires
Loan documents - Once the loan is repaid
Pay stubs - When you get a new one
Receipts - When warranty expires (7 years if you need them to support tax filings
State and federal tax returns - After 7 years
401(k) statements - When you get a new one

If you have a scanner..scan them onto a CD and you can upload them to web storage sites as tiffs or jpgs.
If you don't have a scanner or know how to do it, head for the nearest Staples, Office Depot or Kinkos and they will do it for you.

Why do I say do this? Because boxes can get lost in transit, fires happen and it never hurts to have backup copies in an electronic format. You can store them online at
http://www.adrive.com/ and leave another disk with your kids.

Status: offline 		I hate that my moms bloodtests came up negative for Myathenia Gravis and that everything is pointing to ALS but it could take a year to confirm. I hate that my mom is not taking care of herself. She passed out twice last friday night. She hadnt eaten all day then ate and had wine and spiked her bloodsugar. I hate that she is wasting away because she chokes on saliva when she eats.

I also hate that I am nervous about this interview today. I am afraid of getting this job and afraid of not getting it.

Shes had all the tests twice. Swallow, pulminary, spinal tap, ekg, emg etc.She Has been to a speech therapist, 2 ETH doctors, 2 neurologists and has an appointment with the Les turner foundation at North western Hospital.

Status: offline 		It's so trivial compared to Lushy's problem but I hate it that we finally get our wedding pictures back from the photographer and they, ummmmm, aren't the best he's done. Ok, so most of them suck doo-doo. There are a few nice ones but that's it. None of the CM gang, none of my friends that flew 3000 miles that I hadn't seen in over 10 years, and a number are blurry and badly coloured. 

Thank goodness for friends and their cameras.....

Status: offline 		What Holly said!!  My sister's been married over 46 years & our Uncle was the photographer at her wedding, since he was a professional photog.  We still haven't seen most of the pics.  We're hoping to find them after he dies.  LOL

A few, Potty, but like there's none of the head table at the reception. There's none of the CM gang together even though he had specific instructions to get us together and he did. Status: offline 		I agree, tell the guy that you want ALL of the photos. You paid for his services and let him know that you are unhappy with the results. I am so sorry that it didn't work out as planned, it seems like I hear about this happening a lot and it just sucks when you pay/trust someone to perform a service and they don't live up to expectations especially when it is so important.

Lushy.. hugs, I wish I had words to make you feel better about your mom.

Christine I truly think you will be fine no matter where you land in life, this is going to be a grand adventure for you!

K, I hate being germy sick with RR due here on Friday morning and my apartment is a pig sty. I will probably be too sick to play and that makes me SOOOOO angry at myself. And I hate being sick, not knowing anyone here and wishing so much that someone could bring me a can of soup so I don't have to get outta bed. I wish someone would come wash my sheets cuz they feel icky after 3 days of fever sweat ewwwwwwwwww but I'm literally too weak to strip the bed.

Most of all I hate that I have 10 days to find a doctor here. Somehow. Somehow push past my moronic phobia of medical doctors and convince one that no I am not a junkie, yes I actually do need this medication refilled ASAP. I can't even describe the terror inside of me just at the thought of a new doctor. Its stupid stupid but it's also an enormous block inside of me. Even knowing whyyyyyy I'm so traumatized doesn't change the fear.
