I love it that I voted this morning.
I love that there wasn't a long line.
I love that I came back and got my dad and went back to the polling place and one of the Election Officers brought our car right to the door and helped him inside, got him to a chair so he could sit and fill out his ballot.
I love that they brought him back to the car, opened it, got him settled, gave him his "I Voted" sticker, and off we went.
I love that we live in this tremendous country, that so many other nations look up to, not matter how flawed we are at times.
I love that there have been scores of thousands of service men and women who have protected and still protect the freedoms that so many of us take completely for granted.
I love that there were women who forged the way for me and other ladies in this country to gain the right to vote.
I love that there were people of color who fought tirelessly for the right to vote and be counted in this country.
I love that I am lucky enough to have been born here, when so many others just dream of this place.
I love that my kids know from their dad how blessed they are to be born here when he explains the naturalization process he went through.
On a tiny rant, if ANYONE wants to bitch and moan about going to the polls, don't let me hear it. If an 83 year old man with osteoarthritis can get out in the chilly weather and cast his vote, there's no damn reason other people can't. Also, there is no line too long to wait in, in order to cast your vote. Remember that people in other countries are often killed when they try to vote, so waiting for a few hours is NOTHING compared to losing one's life. If you DON'T vote, you have wasted your voice, and have therefore, forfeited your right to bitch and complain about ANYTHING you don't like in this country, in your state, in your county, or in your city or town.
GO OUT AND VOTE - MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD - BE PROUD OF YOUR HERITAGE!

This is the first election since my 18th birthday that I am missing, no matter how small, and it's bugging me something fierce. I know I live in Canada now but I was raised to always vote, that that's how our country is run, by the people. I couldn't vote in the Canadian election earlier this month (well, DUH!) and now I'm missing this election. *sigh* It just feels WRONG.

will settle down to just one elected Offical dealing with the current mess and disseminating. Either way it has been a Historic Campaign..but I sure will be glad when it is over.... 
Thanks, poenkitten. We're both very happy and settling into married life now. Of course, we've been living together for a few months since I moved here at the end of May but married life is, well, "different". *winks* And it all started right here on CM in P&RS....
