Oh happy happy happy me!!!! I passed my test and have just graduated from the Basic Literacy and Numeracy Course that my local Employment Advisor made me go on to help me find better employment. The numeracy course was really easy and I can add, subtract, multiply and divide any combination of numbers up to 1,000. The literacy course was much more complicated, but I can write my own name, correctly write my own address including postcode, I scored top marks also in letter-writing, writing a CV, a resume, filling out an application form, reading comprehension, I can spell lots and lots of words, I can write a sentence properly, and I know how to find different landmarks in a street plan. This has really broadened my horizons. I am no longer restricted to just being a playwright, a poet or a translator.. I can now be a clerk, a civil servant, a journalist (but only for newspapers and magazines with big letters and lots of pictures), and I have been told that if I apply for training I have the chance of becoming a politician. I can even write for the BBC. Decisions, decisions, decisions.....
