I recently went through a few days of serious doubt on just this subject. A friend was of the opinion that because I like recieving pain I was perhaps submissive or switch. Well that just did not feel right to me and after talking and talking and talking with people about it, I realized that being masochistic has nothing to do with being Dom. If you like say anal beads, does this mean you are homosexual? No.
If I were putting myself in a submissive position in order to recive pain this would be different, but it has never been that way. She may be holding the Cat, or dripping the wax, or inserting the needle or, holding the blade, etc etc etc , but I am the one in control. I am the one directing it. She has no choice as to what I want. If she wishes to whip me and I want something else. Well I get the something else. However if she wishes a lashing and I am not in the mood, well she gets what I give, it's not her choice to make.
It is not about what you are doing, but what roles your filling while you do it.
I see no reason why a sub/slave might never once be subject to pain, yet be required to administer pain to her Dom/Master daily. This would change nothing of the dynamic of the roles they fill in the relationship.
Well thats my 2 cents.
