Inspired in part by Caitlyn's "bronze Irish" and the Rev Wright threads over in Off Topic. Multiple choices.

If the poll is to be meaningfull the questions need to be independant, which they are not
For example 1 and 3 are probably both true.
Some questions are jokes so have I missed your point ?

It's multiple choice, so if more than one is true, that's okay. The poll is intended to give others a chance to express themselves, whether out loud with posts, or "secretly", by just voting.

And even jokes sometimes have some truth in them, if only subjective truth. (Which does not mean I see myself as a "divisive cracker" LOL)

Design your own poll, dude. Go ahead and make it criticism-proof. <crickets chirping>  Well? I'm waiting. You are such the genius. You should be able to design a neutral poll. <chirp chirp> Well, go ahead. <chirp chirp>

Yeah, just what I thought.

colouredin -> RE: On race (3/23/2008 5:04:11 AM)

Race is a problem but I think a lot of it is a self perpetuating problem, if people see themselves as seperate even in a positive way then others will see them as seperate, "unite brothers and sisters" is what a black woman said recently at a concert in memory of two children who were shot she went on for an hour about how ethnic groups need to stick together, well no actually society needs to stick together otherwise we are dividing ourselves up and then there is bound to be prejudice

[sm=river.gif]poor me i'm not collared...unlike SOME people(congrats domah)

mnottertail -> RE: On race (3/23/2008 10:11:11 AM)

Is she collared?  I am sure she started begging and he slapped a collar on her and a gag and told her to shut the fuck up before he kicked her to the curb. Only allows her to type now.

But that's just like her, give her good advice and she doesn't give you the blow by blows of how it went, just like that little mixielicious who was out here going to toss a salad and never came back and told us how that went.

Well, if she in in service, congratulations to her (and good luck to him....LOL)

This is exactly how I feel, everyone needs to get over themselves and just get to living life.  In Toronto (Ontario Canada) the latest stats are there are more non white now.  Does that mean I get an advantage over someone else because I am white (blue eyed and blond to boot!!!)  I do not deserve an unfair advantage over anyone I need to prove myself in any situation.

Interesting how if the US is so racist, Asians, as a group, seem to have no problem being successful. They have no so called leaders speaking for them. Nor do they get any type of preferences or affirmative action.
I guess they just refuse to be victims, and instead take advantage of the tremendous opportunities hard work and a good education can bring.

colouredin -> RE: On race (3/24/2008 6:20:29 AM)

Hum I know that there is quota filling and other forms of positive discrimination (ie employing people purely to 'look' good) in some companies, but of course not all. I dont think its proof that there isnt racisim at all.

toservez -> RE: On race (3/24/2008 7:12:15 AM)

Racism is alive and well today and anyone who has experienced it would not be so quick to blow it off. But it is also not nearly as bad as decades gone by. There are other discriminations out there and often too many people who are minorities or have faced discrimination blame all their problems on it which is more a reflection on themselves. But understand when racism occurs to you or a loved one it is just not in the same league as some other bad break in life.

There are also way too many who confuse stupid ignorance for racism that this just clouds up the picture when true racism rears it ugly head.

Vendaval -> RE: On race (3/24/2008 11:05:17 PM)

I checked #3 and #6.  My experience is that anyone can hate because of race prejudice.  However, government sanctioned or institutionalized racism is not the same as cultural racism, but the two are intertwined and seldom seen apart from each other.

Can't we all just get along?!  [&:]

Estring -> RE: On race (3/24/2008 11:07:54 PM)

Are you talking about government sanctioned racism such as affirmative action?
