so on a little side note, have any of the women here used birth control as a means of controlling their menstruation(as in continuing to take the pills and skip the off week? This has caused constant spotting for two weeks straight with me, and i'm considering just going back to dealing with it. Any thoughts?

I think you need to be making an appointment with your gynecologist and not asking a cyber board.

I have done it only a handful of times, Master is not keen on me doing it too often because as He says there is a reason we bleed each month even when on the Pill. His ex wife used to take it continuously and ended up with something very nasty I think it was a uterine infection.

By the end of the second pack of pills I have extremely tender breasts especially since I have changed brands recently (to Diane35). I don't have any spotting at all but I have been lucky in that the brands of pill I have taken haven't caused me any trouble.

I agree with EmeraldSlave2, a checkup would probably be in order.

i was just curious if anyone else had experienced it when trying to skip periods using the pill method. i fully intend to ask my doctor, but i know this is something very common for women to do so i just wondered if it was a common experience. that is all

thanks

y'know, if we all asked only the most appropriate people for answers to our questions, i think there'd be little posted on here at all.

I used birth control pills to regulate my periods some 25 years ago. Since I had my kids, I had no more problems with that.

But, none can tell you what kind of those pills would be appropriate for you but your gyn. They come with different hormone levels and the wrong kind can do nothing but damage your health.

There is a pill out now that allows 4 periods per year. You might want to ask your doctor what they think of it. Normal pills are not intended for use continuously.

I've recently asked my doctor about this very question. She said if I wanted to skip a period now and then it wasn't a big deal. So if I was going on vacation and didn't want my period just skip ahead, but make sure I have it the next month. She didn't feel that there would be any negative effects for me if I didn't do it all of the time. But I do not spot at all if I skip.

Hope that helped-

Candy

I asume lots of females do that and that is why they have now came out with the pill where you only have 4 periods a year. more or less working the same way you just described . so you may want to make a appointment and just get that birthcontrol here is a link to the site to read up more about it.

There's also research (sorry, i don't have the chance right now to track it down and post links, but i will try to) that states that the pill has helped to reduce the chance of breast cancer for women. For something that has been out that long, i find it hard to believe that this study is accurate.

ever heard of diethylstilbestrol? It came out in 1938 and the FDA didn't ban it's use for pregnant women until 1971 when their daughters were dropping dead from cancer and thankfully someone put 2+2 together.

this slave stands by her statement that synthetic hormones can screw you up for life and will add that she doesn't need a study to convince her----personal experience is enough for her.

I just wanted to throw something in. I started the pill at 16 and been on it in some form until now at age 28 except for when i was pregnant for 2 babies. anyhow now I have ovarian failure no idea why it has happen or what will come of it possible premenapause. they want me to take hormone pills everymonth to try and jump start me the pills are horrible. my point I blame the birth control I think from being on them so much it has messed me up. I dont plan to ever take them again.

The initial use for DES (an artificial estrogen) was to inject it in the final trimester for "bigger, healthier babies". Some studies show that the babies born from this use did not have the issues that the others did. Somewhere in that time period, they discovered that DES if injected during the first trimester it helped prevent miscarriages in women that were prone to it. A large percentage of the female children born from this use of DES developed cervical and vaginal clear cell carcinoma, usually in their early 20s. (mine was diagnosed at 24 and my mother's at age 31) It also caused miriad of other reproductive issues even without the cancer. DES was finally removed from the US market for use in pregnant women in 1971. They are now finding that the children of DES babies are also having reproductive issues due to the drug. The pregnant women that were injected with DES have a higher risk of breast cancer.

DES, oddly enough, has been found to be a very effective treatment for Prostate Cancer.

DES Baby, Cancer Survivor and living with the effects everyday,

so what do you use then, just rely on the good ole-fashioned condom? i've always used the pill to help regulate my cycles.

just because you happened to be on birth control and something happened medically, does not mean that the birth control caused it, or contributed to it. How many people have used the pill for a large portion of their lives and never suffered the worse for it?

some things have been proven to have a direct correlation. especially the case with DES. ask those who have received multi-million dollar settlements from the drug companies that pushed it, they proved it in the lab and in the court of law. anyone who has had their lives threatened and lost an organ from cancer due to synthetic hormones in utero or taken by themselves might caution you regarding the dangers, much like someone who has lost a lung from lung cancer after smoking would caution you not to smoke. it's best to have all the information possible, positive and negative, so one can make the best decisions for oneself wouldn't you agree?

I went on the pill at 13. Stayed on until I starting suffering chronic yeast infections... Then went back on it because of medical problems (awful periods)... I was uncermoniously pulled off again because of other medical issues (concern about clots)...

I never, ever, ever found that taking pills back to back stopped my period. Ever. And my doctor told me it was safe to do periodically.

There is also deproprovera (sp?). It is an injectible birth control. I've heard conflicting reports, one that states no periods for 6 to 9 months and one that states it never stopped.

Like previously suggested, discuss with a professional. I can only offer my experience.

Depo's ok but it can cause weight gain, And I hae started to get scaring from the injection sight, nothing bad or nothing but little round raised area's where I have been injected. I've been on depo for about 3 years and I stoped periods right away, but once in a while I get rust brownish discharge like I used to get at the end of my period, but it's not enough to a tampon and to little for a pad so it's kind of nasty because other wise the rust color stains undies unless you put a lil tp in the panties.
