addisonclarkgirl -> Does it look better in the morning? (3/24/2008 7:48:12 AM)

Last night, I was sad about some things, and a friend of mine told me the old familiar phrase, "It will look better in the morning."  Sure enough, it does look better :)

First of all, why is that?  Is it because at night, it's all dark and gloomy?  Is it because in the morning, you've had a good night's rest and the new day sheds all of these wonderful new possibilities? (OK...maybe not that many, but some anyway.)  Why is it?

And i say,

It's called "sleeping on it" - a bit of distance helps to put some perspective on a problem. The subconscious does the thinking, I guess.

I have found, however, that waking up in the morning from deep innocent sleep, and having that sinking feeling as I remember that something's wrong, is painful.

So it doesn't always work [:(] .

Because when you are tired it can be harder to think outside the box,  you may be more focused on thinking about the problem than looking for solutions.

but ..........not every situation will look better in the morning !!!! [:D] ................

take for example .....
you went out drinking and  had a tad too much to drink,  end up letting some guy/girl take you home  hoping to have some hot sex
which does not quite meet your expectation ..so a bit disappointed  and you drift off to sleep together, he/she wakes you up in the morning all aroused  wanting to have a another tumble ....but as you come a wake and take a look at them now with a less alcohol influenced mind and eyes  as he/she is groping at you .....when it hits you.... that this person in the bed with you looks so very unattractive ............now your predictment  is definitely not looking better in the morning light

Because life always has it difficulties and when we wake up in the morning the body and mind failed to react differently to this one then the previous many others just because we let this one consume us the day before.

Deal with this one and another one will come up to consume us soon after.

It always looks better when swelling has had time to go down.

I think it is because you've had so many hour's of not thinking about your issues.  Time to reflect to some extent even if you were sleeping.
If we took more time out of our daily lives to sit and think, reflect many of us would not make such stupid moves in our lives.  They'd be all thought out.

Plus it is a new day and a new beginning.

Because it gives us time to depart from our knee-jerk, emotional responses.

But I did like the reference to the Beatles. Their music does tend to make me feel better... [;)]

Our brains, like our bodies, need to rest and repair during the sleep time.  And our subconscious can work on problems in a non-linear fashion, potentially finding creative solutions.  I recommend using meditation tapes/ambient sounds to ease your way into a peaceful sleep.
