Maybe 20 years ago, long before there was Twisted Monk or Rainbow Rope, I would buy a lot of my rope and rigging supplies at the Home Depot. One not very busy afternoon, I'm going thru the rope aisle, measuring out lengths (HD used to have a "cut to fit" set up right at the rope spools where you could measure and cut -- they even had a quality hotknife for plastics). And a cute little Hispanic girl in one of those orange vests comes over to see if "I'm finding everything alright". She starts talking to me about the rope, how to cut it (she didn't know how to use the hotknife) and then says "wow, you are buying a lot of rope. What you tying up, a boat or something?" and without really thinking (I'm concentrating on measuring -- of course without a list -- was that two twenty foot lengths of polypro braided, or nylon??) and I say "no -- I'm having a party and people will be tying eachother up." And she is silent....and I look up and she's beet red and just shakes her head and walks away. Ah, well... E.

"When you wake up, Pooh," said Piglet, "what's the first thing you say?" "What's for breakfast? What do you say, Piglet?" "I say, I wonder what's going to happen exciting today?" Pooh nodded thoughtfully. "It's the same thing," he said.
