jblood -> Beginning Collar Help/Advice wanted. (10/1/2005 9:35:09 PM)

My bf and I are starting into this, and I've always wanted to have him use a collar on me, but i've got some qualms... im ok when i WEAR the collar, thats no prob, but when he starts pulling the leash, I start to get a little queasy, just thinking about my windpipe. Anyone have any suggestions of techniques? Whats the best (and cost efficient, we're not rich.. [:)]) equipment out there, in your opinion?

Thanks

You're not supposed to pull against the front of the throat. Humans and dogs are not built the same. We don't have the thick skin, etc. that dogs have there.

Use a dog collar that has the adjustable holes in it. Like the leather ones. Collars like that don't tighten around the neck. Stay away from the chokers until you feel ready.

While this response may sound simple, it's really the solution, as I see it. [:)] When he "pulls" the leash, you need to "follow." Don't resist, and be sure that he knows that the slightest tug is enough to get your attention. He need not "pull" you at all, but rather lead you.

That's not dumb advice to give, by any means. My sub has a stubborn streak. It took her a long time to decide the best way to avoid the discomfort of leash-pulling was to compliantly go in the direction of the pull. She eventually reckoned that worked a lot better than digging in her heels and complaining.

A quick jerk will really get your attention and should not caue a problem with your breathing.

Another word of advice make sure the collar is lose enough that you can get four fingers through it with out it being to tight. If you cant get your four fingers through it comfortably it is way to tight. I have a locking collor it has no holes but it fits comfortably loose not throat chocking tight and it locks with a small metal heart lock so i cant loosen it's a little big but it fits confy and i never take it off[;)][;)][:)]

Hi jblood. I've only ben led twice by the Leash, but I had no trouble. MADAM always pulled from the front only, so the pressure was in the back of my head, and the Collar had plenty of room, and wasn't too tight.

I loved it and hope to do it again someday. Try being Blindfolded too. It is a great way to build up trust of your Dom. I trusted MADA enough, to walk down the basement steps...which she led me very slowely, step by step, like a person being led by a guide dog, but it was just the oppisite. She was leading me.

Miss it badly, BalletBob
