If you had a workshop with all the tools you could possibly want (think carpentry, machining, leatherworking), a reasonable supply of free materials and posessed the necessary skills to use all of these things... what sort of bondage furniture and devices would you build?  Obviously, devices that defy the laws of physics or are so large that a city council meeting would need to be held are impossible, but I would still love to hear about them.

I'm hoping to get a bit of inspiration for my ideas (my bondage muse went on vacation).  One of my later-in-life goals is to provide the sort of bdsm gear that we read stories about or view pictures of, but are never able to use because there's only one of them in the world (like the epoxy body cast I posted about) or it doesn't even exist at all.

My desires might be a tad tamer than what you have in mind, but I have always wanted a solidly built, 4 poster bed, with 12 inch diameter posts. The tops of each post would have a decorative dome, removable, with a coil of chain hidden inside. There would be panels on the inward facing parts of the posts that rotated that had eyebolts that could be tucked away for more vanilla appearances.
It would be a captains bed, with toy storage drawers being all along the base, and since it was platformed over the drawers it would be far quieter than a frame bed.
I have the skill to build it, just ot the tools or money for supplies. But a girl can dream...

Three very basic and useful bondage furniture pieces are a st andrew's cross,a padded massage type bondage table-and a padded bondage horse.

If you can make one that serves as all three-that would be utterly fantastic.

A fully hideable X frame stretching rack, I have designed one to be made from hardwood and alluminium with steel cable ropes, just got to get around to making it now. The plan is, in hideable form, it is just a side table with a table cloth over.

Jaken8ter -> RE: What would you build? (3/27/2008 8:29:53 PM)

oh,,,,
a comfortable chair for the living room that doubles as a queening chair.
hide your sub underneath and when you have guests over, you can have your fancy and entertain at the same time.

azropedntied -> RE: What would you build? (3/27/2008 8:57:39 PM)

how about a Domme robot ?
My next project is a susspension  cage that can be used ceter/single point  or 4 point .

ELMuerte -> RE: What would you build? (3/27/2008 9:13:16 PM)

Yea I would build a couple padded wood benches, stocks, spreader bars (easy with cuffs and long dowel rods). I've seen some archaine inventions like a wood base with a post sticking up off it, reenforced, you could call it a "hitching post". I'me sure you've all seen it.... I could go on and on. I've got hte tools just no where to put that kinda stuff. hahah

SNoB -> RE: What would you build? (3/27/2008 9:29:39 PM)

The only equipment I dont have right now in my garage is a nice welding setup.  If I had that, I would build the arvinator.  If you dont know what that is, just imagine a suspension rig big enough/strong enough to easily suspend 6 people from at the same time.

SirRober -> RE: What would you build? (3/27/2008 11:29:32 PM)

chain maille dildos/vibrateors     ........ the list is endless

wulfgarw -> RE: What would you build? (3/28/2008 12:01:02 AM)

I agree with Leatherist.

St Andrews Cross, spanking horse and a bondage table.  But I need to add either a large cage intergrated with the table or a jail cell.

Ok...so I have often said I am so blessed and love my life - that I wouldn't change a thing, but if I won the lottery, and money was no object...I would have a button I could push so my walls turned around, and floor panels flipped and my living room became a total dungeon. Then...I would like to spin real fast and when I stopped I would be in a corset & thigh high boots - ok, now that part does defy the laws of physics, but a girl can dream can't she!

Until then, I'd like some things (and am actually working on getting them) that could break down - fold up to go under the bed or in closets - a St. Andrews Cross, stocks, cage, and bondage table. Then I've found a spanking bench that folds down to make an ottoman, and a bondage chair that looks like a regular chair, with a removable/replaceable seat for queening. A Cabinet that sets into the wall that I can hang a picture in front of, that will hold on hooks/shelves all my toys. A few grand, and I can make all that happen - and turn my living room into that dungeon in about 30 minutes. Not as cool as the button...but actually a dream I can/will make true in time.

I guess I'm the only one that fantasizes about electric/hydraulic machines that require a dedicated 220v service and you have to -get into- it.  LOL

It seems like the basic St. Andrew's cross, spanking bench and other cliche dungeon furniture items are still the most desirable.  I suppose I could make a living building those, they are easy.  I really liked the large four post bed idea, but I think I would expand on that and include some sort of electric winch hidden on the underside of the bed that would pull 4 cables through those large posts.  No more having one arm looser than the other, everything gets pulled to the same tightness.  I'm kind of a stickler for symmetry in bondage.

Heh, nope... another big Gord fan here [:)]

i've actually got all the stuff mentioned above, with the exception of heavy machine tools (my "mill" currently consists of a bench vise and a Dremel).

i really want a gibbet, but steel prices have put that one on hold for a while. i have plans to build a coffin with inflatable panels top and bottom (and, obviously, an air supply). i've collected parts for a fuck machine (a 2hp treadmill motor should do the job nicely... TYVM Craigslist! [:)]), some PIC programming stuff, some extra electrical toys i can modify... What i need is time and encouragement [&:]

Oh, the one thing i'm stuck on at the moment is a freestanding Catherine wheel... i know i can use the rear hub assembly off a FWD car for the pivot, but i can't figure out a way to keep it standing without taking up all of the floor space in the playroom, or tearing the wall down.

johnfire -> RE: What would you build? (3/28/2008 5:47:16 AM)

Heavily weight the back bottom to act as a counter weight.

Leatherist -> RE: What would you build? (3/28/2008 7:20:24 AM)

Floor braces.

DesFIP -> RE: What would you build? (3/28/2008 7:59:02 AM)

I just want a nicely padded spanking bench. Not till the ums are gone though!

If you build the cage right-you can always use the front bar panel as a rack-in place of a cross. You just make a few plywood backed pads that clip onto it. Then use quick links to lean it against one wall. A grid is actually nice, since it gives you a lot more postioning options to use in bondage.

I've considered producing ones that look like an ottoman footstool. that have panels that open to let you convert it from regular furniture to bondage use-with a hidden lock to keep the curious from seeing exactly how it works.

I like the way you think :-)  For the Catherine Wheel, have you thought of using one of those prtable basketball goal bases as a rear counterweight?  Or you could use really long eyebolts through the ceiling joists.  They would only leave small holes that could easily be filled in if you decide to move.  We had them in the bedroom of the last place I lived.

ThunderRoad -> RE: What would you build? (3/28/2008 10:10:00 AM)

I would love to have some kind of an all-in-one bondage rack.  Something that can go from a Cross all the way down to an examination bed.  Able to bend the person at the waist with legs spread to use and abuse.

Of couse, if it can be broken down and resassembled quickly, as well as being easily portable, so much the better.

Weight would be an issue, so probably best to make it out of aluminum or or other light-weight metal.  It would also need some padding.  Of course, being metal, it opens up a whole host of electrical options.

Hell, let's make it able to spin and invert the person too. :)
