Just something I was pondering over last night...
Do you feel that you take on different roles as a submissive, depending on the person you're with (or even with the same person at differnt times)?  I guess what I mean by "role" is the mindset you're in, maybe even your percieved expectations of another regarding how you should act for them.  I don't mean this in a negative way, nor do I mean to imply that switching "roles" means you're inconsistent, trying to impress someone by acting differently, etc.  But can differnent people bring out different distinct qualities in you?  Or do you consider yourself to be more fluid in this respect, perhaps a bunch of roles mixed into one smoothly?
I'm not even sure if I'm even getting across what I'm trying to ask, haha, but its worth a try.

I think I understand what you are asking, and yes, I would not only be a different submissive with different dominants, but I am also different with my one at different times.  Part of who I am... part of my submissiveness is being perceptive to those around me and being accommodating to the needs I perceive.  As a follower, it is my job to follow the lead that I am given.

Person A calms me, it will show in my behavior with them.
Person B irritates me, that too will show in my behavior with them.

I don't interact in a vacuum. I'm the leader in a relationship with my ums, I'm a follower when with him. If he was a different kind of person, then of course I would be showing a different part of me. I react to him, with him.

Because of the situation i am in with my Master ( He is chronically ill and disabled) then i find my role changes frequently.  Sometimes it even seems as if i am the one giving 'orders' ie.. telling Him to take His medication and dissuading Him from doing things that may make Him ill.  Having said that i have always believed imho that this is also a subs role... to be in charge of their Masters health, wealth and wellbeing...so i like to think i have the different roles sorted in my head, although at times it is hard.  Not sure if any of this makes sense, but it is the only way i can describe my different roles

i have taken on different 'roles' as you might call it with every different person in my past & within my current life.
This comes from the fact that how i act and respond to a person will differ with anybody in any part of my life depending on what aspects of my personality that individual brings out in me, no two friends or acquaintances are the same, nor will they inspire the same reactions. Hence this is not limited to who i have submitted to.
