I've had a small glass of milk and it's slowly helping to alleviate the problem, so I reckon it's just a nasty case of trapped wind (stated with embarrassment!) and likely just a food item I'm having that's the culprit, but the doctor will know for certain once I've been to see him. I did have my glucose/cholesterol levels checked fairly recently and despite the fact I am overweight, both measured within normal levels - 4.0 and 4.1 respectively. Thanks for the suggestion though, BountyHunter.

Yes I have a similar problem but much improving,My internist told me that diabetes can cause a problem with good healthy BMS..I am on a good diet with lots of fiber but have started last week adding a table spoon of miralax into my coffee about 3 times a week and its working well.It used to be a prescription only but now can be bought over the counter...It works well but would seek your doctors advice on this matter..

I'm pretty savvy when it comes to food intake, but do recognise I need to make some changes and I'm going to start restricting foods that are likely to create gas. I also take acidophillus along with one of those small probiotic drinks to aid digestion. I think stress could be a factor with me, I've been stressed lately, although that has been put to bed, thankfully, so this could still be my body's way of working it through, so to speak. Thank you for the suggestions, they're appreciated.

Start paying attention to exactly what foods you are eating, for some reason for many people as they age they become intolerant of certain foods  which results in  gas, for myself raw cabbage or coleslaw  has become an extreme no-no in my diet as will cause bloating cramping   as time goes on I am having more more problems with several raw vegetables

having some yogurt with live cultures  can help reduce the effects  for many people with the exception of those with dairy intolerances who may find it causes the problem to become  worse  though an alternative to is taking
Lactobacillus acidophilus tablets instead which contains the live bacteria culture  without the dairy

We use this with greyhounds when we take them from the track and bring them into homes as stress can also be a cause of extreme gassiness so during the settling/adjustment period they are given 2tbsp dollops of yogurt mixed into each meal to help reduce the gas

Greetings Miss Morrigan,

I'm not a doctor, so please take anything I write with a healthy dose of skepticism. Most of the replies to your post have focused on your diet and GI tract. There is one severe problem that can cause bloating that women should be aware of: ovarian cancer. Granted, if one hears hoofbeats, one should think horses and not zebras, but ovarian cancer is a killer and should be ruled out as quickly as possible.

Sorry to sound like such a Chicken Little, but my "common migraines" turned out to be a brain tumor. It now makes sense to me to rule out the big, deadly stuff as quickly as possible before spending large amounts of time wading through the less lethal possibilities.

Good luck,
BB

Hopefully it's just a newly developed food allergy, but get it checked out.
