Personally, I like Geena Davis and I like the show. Would you be asking the same question if it were about the first Black President? Or how about the first Jewish President?

When JFK was elected, there was a stink about his being Catholic because there had never been one of "those" in office either.

Change comes people, deal with it or go buy an island and you can run it any way you want.

If I ONLY had the means, I would do that in a heartbeat.

Mojo, I'd love to see a woman as president, but not anymore than I'd like to see another man. As long as whoever sits in the oval office does a good job, I'm not too concerned about looking up their skirt/suitpant.

Now for the real reason I'm writing a post on this thread...for the love of Goddess, stop bickering all of you. Agree to disagree and take it like adults. Everyone has their own opinions. Let's all respect the opinions of others and present our own in a respectful and informative light. You don't have to like someone to be civil and respectful, but as a human being it is their due. There's been too much clawing and snapping on this site lately. The flames are creating so much smoke that it's hard to see through to the people with valuable information.

At this point, I would rather have Gina Davis, the actress not the charachter from the show, take over the oval office than leave Bush there to screw up any longer. At least she is a member of Mensa.

And I'm sure we would grieve such a departure with a huge party after you left.

If I ONLY had the means, I would do that in a heartbeat.

Just curious, does anyone take issue with a woman being President in the new ABC show, "Commander in Chief"? Just curious. I don't, but some people on here I'm sure do.

As it's easy to figure, this show is nothing but ABC's attempt to get Hillary elected as president by trying to show America how great it would be to have a female president. Other than that, most things that have been in movies, books, and such have come to pass. From old sci fi shows we now have Space Ships in Outer Space. From 10,000 leagues under the sea, we now have submarines. Though America has not officialy had a female as President, there have been books and shows that have a woman as president in the future. The X-Men cartoon done by Fox in the early 90's had a female for president. Both movies Sudden Impact and The Fith Element had a black male for president.

But I say again, this is ABC's attempt to get Hillary elected for 2008 making society feel that it's time to have a woman as the Commander in Chief. However, the show could back fire on her if Rice were to run against her.

As of now, the biggest issue for America having a female in office is our policy with other countries. Culturaly many nations still find women to be beneath men and refuse to work out agreements and terms with everyone but men. Thus the biggest reason why Margret Thatcher only served one term as PM for England.

I myself just vote. I've voted for ppl not because of there age, race, and gender, but due to there experience, leadership, speeches, and debates. May the best person win for 2008. Unfortunatly the best person rarly is the one who even runs. So as always, we'll still have to vote for the lessor to two evils.

Um hate to dampen your flow there mate but Maggie served three terms as PM. She had to step down during her third term, primarily because she introduced the poll tax which was a tax for the rich hurting the poorer off. As for foriegn policy, nobody refused to deal with her, she'd have ripped thier b*lls off as the Argentinians found out........

Plus, did I miss something, or isn't England still ruled by a QUEEN?

Well England still has a monarchy, and it happens to currently be female. The whole thing about "ruling" ...not so much, it's far more of a symbolic role.

Thank you sooo much for pointing that out. I was already well aware of it, and simply making a joke because the PM is not considered the "ruler" of the country. I wish that people would realize here that the Presidency, while less symbolic is not in a position to make decisions all alone and stop acting like he is.

You don't need the means. If it is something you want to do you can do it. All you need is a dingy...set sail off the east coast anywhere. Wherever you end up, stay there. All you need is a patch of dry land and some men to keep you company. If I've read correctly you aren't much into females because they are weaker or something like that?
No brain's...whatever it doesn't matter.

This female can solve your problems with your island though.

Oh yeah. You missed the point all right.

And I wasn't even being snippy in my original response.
