TwistedLeather -> my curiosity running wild... yet again (4/3/2008 1:20:48 PM)

i don't know if it's the sleep deprivation from my insomnia, or just my overly active curiosity, but yet again my Owner and i were disussing a recent play session in which he discovered that if he takes the whipping rod and whips it really fast back and forth between my thighs, the pain actually tickles!

It hurt, but i couldn't help but laugh. i have welts and bruises from the thing, but i know the next time he does it, i'm going to laugh. Pain hurts, and i just don't see how it's supposed to tickle!

So here's my question. Am i so strange that i can laugh from pain tickling, or is this a common thing?

The only comparison I can think fo is tattoos, I giggle at the ticklyness of getting a tatoo, but never impact play

hopelesslyInvo -> RE: my curiosity running wild... yet again (4/3/2008 1:29:33 PM)

i dunno, i just get tired of being tickle'ish from things and on occasions i shouldn't be, but that hasn't included pain~  =p

it does seem to ruin the mood a lot though, and for some reason i've also become jumpy when someone touches me.

i guess my answer is a question, why does one sensation cause us to laugh in the first place?  and secondly does it seem to make you laugh or truly feel "tickle'ish" when you get hit like that?

When he scrapes words or images on my body with the tip of his bowie knife, it stings like hell but tickles, too.  I find myself laughing my head off while he yells at me to stay still because I'm squirming around so much....laughing.  It tickles, no, it hurts, no, it tickles....no wait....Ha!

Yeah, it mostly tickles....while it hurts.  So if you're strange, so am I, but then that's no secret.  [:D]

She said it perfectly! It hurts, no it tickles, but no it hurts. It's both!

i find that if i'm hit really fast in certain areas it tickles and i can't stop laughing either..
Not sure why it happens.. maybe if its happening really fast your senses just get overloaded?

BotanicalMiss -> RE: my curiosity running wild... yet again (4/3/2008 2:37:30 PM)

My question is does it actually tickle, or do you just laugh for seemingly no reason through the pain? I have some maso tendencies and a latent submissive side. I really enjoy having my breasts flogged and cropped; I absolutely love the pain and the bruises and marks left from a thorough whipping, which my partner indulges me in every few months. The one drawback is that it can really bring out my submissive side and neither of us really want me to go there. So anyway, I noticed that when we do engage in this, I tend to laugh quite a bit in the beginning. It doesn't tickle at all, but after giving it much thought, I've come to believe that the laughter is my mind's way of trying to block the submissive doors from opening up. Of course, it also makes him hit harder to bring me past the laughter into a place where I can revel in the pain itself... until I realllly start switching, and then he stops so I don't go too far. So give it some thought... if it actually tickles and hurts at the same time, this is totally irrelevant. If it doesn't actually tickle, maybe there's an underlying reason the laughter occurs... maybe there's something about that particular activity that's opening a new door in your mind. ........... Just my 2 cents!

Interesting question, BotanicalMiss.  In my case, the knife actually tickles like mad.  There have been other cases, however, in which I've been in pretty intense pain and unable to do a thing about it, and I burst out laughing.  During those times I laugh because I just find my situation to be hilarious - you know, bound, unable to move, clamped tightly and taking a thrashing.  The pain becomes so unbearable that I actually find it funny.  I've told him I'm a sadist on his behalf.  I think the torment he puts me through is awesome and something I'd like to do to someone else.  The fact that I'M the one it's being done to just kills me and I can't help but laugh....sometimes while crying.  [8D]

So yeah, it's official - I'm a weirdo.

Just a couple of years ago I hated and feared pain.  Go figure.

MRandme -> RE: my curiosity running wild... yet again (4/3/2008 2:47:41 PM)

Hey all,

In my experience, being tickled in the ribs hurts.  For this reason i have always hated being tickled that way... those hard pokes in the side, fingers digging into the ribcage. i laugh hysterically, unable to control my reactions (another reason i hate it), but it freaking hurts! And not in what i would consider a good way either.

So yeah, i understand how something that hurts can make you laugh. If you can enjoy it too, more power to you!

The first  munch i went to  was a couple of weeks after finding my Sir. there was a girl on the st andrews cross having the living shit beaten out of her and she was laughing!!!   I was really confused and asked my Sir about it. He replied that that was her way of dealing with the pain.   I thought she was just crazy, and could never see myself laughing while in pain.

Well,  its been two years , and I have laughed when being whipped, but only when other people are watching - so i think it is my way of dealing with being laid out there in front of god and everyone, naked, and vulnerable. I think it covers deeper feelings. It feels safer to laugh than cry for example.  Either way, it was a good thing, not a bad thing.

Welcome to my world ladies!

I laugh and giggle when I'm getting beat...I can't help it...I realize now it's a form of absolute release for me....like screaming is to others...I laugh and giggle until I go deeper in subspace...then my Dominant states I'm incoherent in trying to talk...lucky me he can read when enough is enough. :)

kyraofMists -> RE: my curiosity running wild... yet again (4/3/2008 4:46:40 PM)

Laughing is one of the ways that I react to pain.  He will ask why I am laughing and the only reason I have is because it "fucking hurts".  Sometimes I cry; sometimes I scream; sometimes I fight back and sometimes I laugh.  It is just the way my body reacts to things.

To answer what's been asked a couple times... i'm laughing because it really does tickle! It hurts at the same time, and i hate hurting, but it also tickles me. i can't help it. It's just the way he whipped me in that particular area. It was a shock to me when it happened, but it's been really nice to hear there are others who laugh while enduring pain that tickles.

OnlyMels -> RE: my curiosity running wild... yet again (4/3/2008 7:00:30 PM)

I laugh whenever my Daddy hits my foot and I cry when he tickles me just wired wierd I guess.

Wheldrake -> RE: my curiosity running wild... yet again (4/5/2008 11:40:51 AM)

I've been known to laugh uncontrollably while being tormented - having fingernails or sharp objects drawn across the skin of my abdomen seems to be the thing that most often triggers this response. The sensation is like a combination of pain and tickling, as others have described. I suppose some of the same nerve endings that respond to being tickled can also be stimulated by the scratching.

saradeanna469 -> RE: my curiosity running wild... yet again (4/5/2008 2:46:29 PM)

This happened to me once.  I was bound standing and blindfolded with a pair of clover clamps on my nipples.  The Domme came and removed the clamps from me (which hurt like hell) and began pressing her finger tips into my nipples and, sort of, swirling her finger around. This gave me a very odd sensation which was both painful and tickling at the same time and I burst into laughter.  Actually, I still had the tickling sensation a full day later while my nipples were still sore.  Maybe it's a side effect of endorphines?

Daddysredhead -> RE: my curiosity running wild... yet again (4/5/2008 5:34:35 PM)

The only thing I can compare with what you are describing is the last time Daddy and I played at the dungeon.  I was going way under because He really raised the intensity level of our play and it hurt like hell.  I screamed in the beginning, then breathed through it, then later as He was bringing me down, I started laughing like crazy.  However, I wasn't fully aware that it was me laughing until after I was walking around, mingling, and asked my friend who was helping Daddy get stuff out if she heard someone laughing while our scene was going on.  She said, "Yes, it was you.  You were giggling and then it turned into raucus laughter."  I didn't know.  But I suppose it was my body and mind's way of coping with all the sensations and pain I was feeling.

I laugh during wax play, and occasionally a singletailing... wax is really bad though, expecially on my back. >.<

flowered -> RE: my curiosity running wild... yet again (4/6/2008 12:06:48 AM)

I sometimes laugh when there in pain in play- I am more into the control aspects, and the only thing I enjoy about pain is that they are able to do it to me.
Pain past a certain point pisses me off. Just the way i am.
However, that lil impish, gonna get me really hurt part of me, will laugh at pain- Kind of a daring," see I can take whatever you can dish" response that comes out under pressure.
Generally that doesnt help with being hurt less...

"Laugh in the face of danger" something along those lines
